Army 1st Lt. Demetrius Montaz Frison, 26, of Lancaster, died in Khost province, Afghanistan, after his unit was attacked by insurgents using an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 26th infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade combat Team, 1st infantry Division, Fort Know, Ky.

My husband was a devoted father. He loved the country he gave his life
for. He was dedicated to protecting the men he took out of the wire.
He loved reading the Bible. He had prayer before every mission with
those who wanted to participate. He loved Jesus. His laughter and
smile were infectious. You could not be standing around him while he
cracked a laugh and not laugh yourself. His hugs made you feel safe,
you could feel his strength through them. He made every always feel
welcome. He wanted to save everyone from anything that was hurting
them. He was a true super-hero. He always had a helping hand out for
someone to grab. He never held back. He gave all.

All Medals and/or Awards Received

His awards and decorations include the Parachutist Badge, the National
Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terror Service Medal, the
Army Service Ribbon, Army Commendation Medal, and the Afghanistan
Campaign Medal.
He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart posthumously.
