ForeverMissed

This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Dena "Tookie" Burns.

Dena was an extraordinary child. She was a blessing to our family from the moment she arrived. She was different and as her mother, I knew it. I felt it in my heart. Over time, doctors finally saw it, too.

At 1 year old, Dena was diagnosed with a rare disorder known as Angelman Syndrome. She truly was our little angel.

She was always happy and her happiness spread to any and everyone she met. She was loved and adored by everyone. She never let her disabilities get her down. She was non-verbal, but she and I knew how to communicate without words. She suffered from seizures and poor muscle control. She had one leg that was weaker, but she didn't seem to notice.

Her hugs were so warm and sweet. She greeted those she liked with pinches or hair pulls. She loved watching Shrek all day and night. Her laughter was contagious. No doubt, she kept me on my toes.

She is so deeply loved and missed. Words cannot describe our pain and grief. But we remember her daily and talk about her just as often. I will keep her memory alive, because I will never stop loving my beautiful baby butterfly.

Tributes are short messages commemorating Dena, or an expression of support to her closest family and friends. Leave your first tribute here, and others will follow.
