On Friday, October 23, 2020, Dennis H. Watson died at the age of 76, at Masonic Village in Burlington after a long battle with cancer surrounded by lifelong friends Mary Ann Cottone, Inga Matukhina, and Harry Brown.
Dennis was born on May 22, 1944 in Camden, NJ, to Frank and Gladys(nee Stackhouse). He graduated from Audubon High School and Glassboro College and was an active alumnus. He taught math at Clearview Middle School for over 30 years. He was a deeply committedChristian and member of the Aura Methodist Church. He traveled to USSR in 1990 with Hands Across the Water as an exchange teacher.
Dennis was an avid sports fan who followed professional and college teams. He was a passionate arts enthusiast who attended musical productions and educational forums. But, more importantly, Dennis was a dear friend to many.
Above all, Dennis valued relationships! His generosity, sincerity, contagious laughter, and a zest for living each day to the fullest enabled Dennis to make lasting friendships with people of all backgrounds and from countries. Dennis gathered friends at his Lake Gilman and traveled extensively through Europe and visited his friends in Russia often. Making friends for life was Dennis’ true gift! He is deeply loved and will be missed by many who considered Dennis a father, brother, uncle or grandfather.A gravesite memorial serviceon Saturday, October 31, 2020 at 11 am from Locustwood Cemetery, Lot # 802 Section 14 will be held. The service will also be zoomed and videotaped.

30 years ago, a group of American teachers came to Magnitogorsk, Russia with Hands Across the Water program and it was then that our family was enriched by a new member. We jokingly called him SON and he addressed us as Mom and Dad. Since then, Dennis has always been with us - again and again he returned to us, and we were happy to share our home, bread, our lives with him. An open and sociable personality, he gained the affection of many of our friends and acquaintances, conquering them with his infectious laughter, benevolence, unfeigned sincerity.
He was with us in the sad moments of the loss of loved ones, and in the happy moments in our lives - the wedding of our elder daughter Daria, the christening of our younger daughter Varvara, our church wedding, the celebration of the 25th anniversary of our wedding and many more. For every birthday, he sent us a bouquet of red roses. We were overwhelmed by his generosity, soulfulness and constant care and attention.
Today it’s our turn to give our “son” a bouquet of red roses - and this is the least we can do to express our endless love for him and give thanks to God and our lucky stars for the 30 years of such close friendship.
