Three years after they were married, Dennis is born during the happiest day of Helen and Thomas (Anthony) Szczygielski's life, on October 8, 1948. 

Mom and dad always described him as a healthy, handsome, blue eyed, chubby bundle of joy who loved to ride on the trolley in Brooklyn. That's when they lived on 19th Street. Two years later another bundle of joy was born, Anthony. Now Dennis had a buddy that he can play with, torment, and love, because that's what brothers do.

Three years later his sister Amelia (Amy) was born. Finally a girl to chase, love , tease and torment, cause that's what brothers do. Two years later we all move to 11th Street, the best block in Brooklyn. This is where Dennis grew up and formed some of the best friendships anyone can ever have. Nine years later the greatest surprise arrived. Our sister ......cute little loveable Joanie was born. We played with her, loved her, took her on trips throughout the neighborhood, to Prospect Park, Coney Island, the beach, on rides galore,  made her laugh a lot and took turns pushing her on a swing because that's what a big brother does with a little sister.
