Christopher's Wedding Ceremony

March 25, 2011

I appreciate the help Denny gave at Christopher's wedding. He offered to play the music at the wedding and did an amazing job.  He worried so much about doing it "just right" and actually thanked "me"  and Christopher for giving him the honor to be a part of it.  That was my brother; a selfless person.

Dennys Christmas trees were also a topic of conversation.  Dave and I went over there one time and this tree looked great.  But when you walked across the floor the needles would drop and it sounded like music on the hard wood floor. We teased him about this over and over again.  You can never take away the memories of past or present..... family is family, and friends are friends.

love you Denny,

your sister  Kathy

Peanut Brittle

February 13, 2011

I always remember the story mom told about Dennis sneaking into the peanut brittle and taking it back to bed with him. One night mom heard a crackling sound and thought it was a mouse but on further investigation she lifted up the blanket that Denny was under and found him eating the peanut brittle.  He looked up at mom and offered  her a piece.

my hero

February 13, 2011

When i was little we used to order wrestling matches on pay per view. i remember uncle Dennis coming over with the kids to watch them.i loved wrestling so much. i told Uncle Dennis that i thought he looked like one of my favorite wreslting heroes Hacksaw Jim duggan.Well from then on Uncle Dennis Did this amazing impression of him for me. He would even carry the 2by4 that the wrestler carried around. When i saw Uncle Denny at Uncle Dave's 50th birthday party he came up to me and my husband and i turned to my husband and said this is the uncle that did the hacksaw jim duggan impressions for me when i was a kid.He looked at my husband and made the hacksaw jim duggan face and let out a big hooooooo!it meant so much to me that he did that for me when i was a kid.it made me feel like i was special and i think i even started to belive he was my wrestling hero.he was such a loving uncle.

Protective

February 13, 2011

Denny, Dave and I went out for Dave's 40th Birthday.  Initially we were suppose to go to see a band but it was sold out..or at least that's what I recall.  I suggested going to a bar in Port Clinton.

Well..I think that was the most fun I have had in my life.  Both trying to pick up chicks and both trying to get me to move away so they could pick up chicks.  So finally, I moved away from them a little distance and  was asked to dance. Well, the guy who I was dancing with, asked me who the guy was at the bar who was glaring at him (ahhh...that was Denny).  I told him: "Oh, he's my brother"  In which the guy replied: "He's biiiiiiiig" and then he walked away.  Denny was watching the guys every move which apparantly made him nervous.

Anytime I was out with Denny I never had to worry about anyone bothering me. He kind of nipped it in the bud..lol..  Oh..the memories from that night...there's more but I wanted to share how protective Denny can be.

4th of July get togethers at Uncle Butchie's

February 12, 2011

I will never forget all the years the family would get together for the 4th of July at Uncle Butchie & Aunt Debbie's.  If my memory serves me right I believe it was you and Uncle Dave that would blow up Uncle Butchie's mailbox every year, One year in particular you guys put Uncle Mike's brand new tennis shoes in the mailbox before blowing it up, Grandma was ticked!!!  Then another year we had a bon-fire instead of a fireworks celebration because you and your brothers decided to do a "jumping jack" firework too close to the box of fireworks, the next thing we knew their was a huge fire and fireworks going off left and right.  But the best thing about those times was seeing how close you were to your brothers, sisters, children, neices, nephews and anyone else that would come to the celebrations.  Your giving nature was and is a representation of the Wick family, you all could be at odds and let one idiot walk by and slam one of you and your all on the bandwagon to defend the one that was insulted, with Uncle Denny leading the pack.  Even though we seem to have a million relatives, you all give us reason to be a close family.  R.I.P. Uncle Denny and please know you will be missed and you will never be forgotten but forever loved., Love Tina Babe

Christmas

February 11, 2011

For years, struggling as a new and growing family, Dennis and his wife Debbie struggled to keep their family together as best as possible. On Christmas and every other holiday when money was hard to come by, Dennis and his wife always managed to keep food on the table and smile's on their children's faces. When the kids's birthdays came around, his kids always benefitted bigtime. Once again Mom and Dad came through to make their holiday very special. On Christmas, if they didn't have enough money, the kids would wake up on Christmas morning to see a Big Beautiful Christmas Tree with all the decorations that you could imagine on it,and underneath it would be everything that would create the biggest smiles on their faces that you could imagine. How did he do it? Well, he had a "heart of gold". Dennis was always capable of making miracles happen no matter how big or how small they were. We would all like to remember you just the way you were, Dennis. A very loving Father and a true friend to all that knew him. Yours truly, Frank Cosner.
