Denova was a classy woman who loved Jesus...who walked the talk...her words were not empty nor meaningless. She was of depth and great substance. I loved praying with her. She helped me to be a prayer warrior. To believe and to pray. That the things we do in private and quiet do matter. That God hears and sees it all. She encouraged me to start a prayer group and a bible study at my kids new school. I’m going to miss her dearly and I’m sorry I took our time together for granted. Weaver family, I know you’ll miss your amazing mother but take comfort in that she was a woman who loved Jesus, followed after God’s heart and obeyed in what He put in front of her. She is dearly missed. ❤️

i apologize that I didn't post this sooner. I wrote this in remembrance of Denova. I will record it and send it to the family eventually.

Warrior

She never wanted to get in the fight
Just have a family and raise them right
But when the wolves came howling at the door
She said some things are worth fighting for

Chorus:
She’s a Warrior
She’s a Fighter
She’s Relentless
You can’t hide her

She’s Courageous
She’s Outrageous
She’s Magnificent
She’s a Warrior

She had the courage to take a stand
She’d jump right in and give a helping hand
Her heart was bigger than the whole wide world
And I’m so glad I got to know this girl

Chorus:

She’s a Warrior
She’s a Fighter
She’s Relentless
You can’t hide her

She’s Courageous
She’s Outrageous
She’s Magnificent
She’s a Warrior

Bridge:
Someday I hope that I can be
The kind o person that she showed me
To feel the fear and keep moving on
Never giving up and fighting strong

Chorus:

She’s a Warrior
She’s a Fighter
She’s Relentless
You can’t hide her

She’s Courageous
She’s Outrageous
She’s Magnificent
She’s Contagious

She’s Invincible
She is Faithful
She’s a Patriot
She is Grateful

She is Principled
She is Resolute
She’s Victorious
She’s a Warrior

Matthew, Abbie, and Malcolm, please know how much our prayers are with you at this time as you grieve the loss of your beautiful wife and mother. It was so wonderful reconnecting with Denova and Matthew last Sept, 2018, as I saw her grounded faith and awesome hospitality so graciously offered, which had not changed over the years since our PCF times together! May the Lord hold you so closely in your grief, as well in your times of celebrating the gift of Denova's life. May Jesus bring you His Shalom peace in the midst of this valley. In Christ's love, Amy

My thoughts are with Matthew, Abbie, and Malcolm. Denova (we called her DeeDee then) and I became friends in college. We lived together in 4 different houses over 3 years as we transitioned to adulthood. She was a deeply thoughtful person and I enjoyed discussing and debating ideas with her, even though we often disagreed. She helped me sort out some of my own values and ethics during that age of exploration and development. And I will never forget her stunning smile!

My wife Holly and I met Denova 25 years ago when we first moved to Seattle for residency and she was dating a colleague before Matthew.  Denova and Holly became fast friends with common interests in faith, warm family home life, wonderful adventures and the love of outdoors. They had many adventures together. We met Matthew and found a deep love between them to be inspiring and inviting. Matthew and I also met together for bible study in our home for several years while our children grew and played together. Denova endeared herself to everyone she met with her kind, gentle manner and persistent interest in others and their well being. She was a dear friend and will be dearly missed.

Asking the Lord to help you through this difficult time. I admired our sister Denova's love for Jesus and dedication to prayer. She shined His light to all who knew her. May God help Malcolm and Abby and Matthew through with His strength daily.

I first met DeNova last spring while traveling to Olympia for the first time to express my concerns with some legislation being considered. I found her to be kind, smart, and gentle. In May of 2019, just six months ago, we met again at a library board meeting that birthed a tremendous community movement to protect children from sexualization through DQSH at libraries, state mandated sex ed, and other concerning issues. A group formed that evening as we came together to protest and galvanize the community in an effort to stop drag events for children in the King County Libraries. June was a blur to all of us, as there were multiple events held both for preschoolers and teens. DeNova quickly emerged as a leader of this effort. She was persistent, faithful, and hardworking, and organized. She plowed through piles of emails, organizing and spotting information. She was focused, thoughtful, kind, and dedicated. She had a wry sense of humor and would say things with an even voice, a straight face, and a twinkle in her eye. Multiple messenger threads set up for all manner of projects and ideas were constantly pinging on our phones. DeNova had amazing amounts of creativity and she never seemed to be asleep. Often my phone would be pinging at 2am. There were many, many late night planning and debriefing sessions. I can truly say that I have confidence that the children of a Western Washington, both in King County and in the Vancouver area, are safer because of her amazing efforts. Just a few days before her sudden passing, we drove down to Vancouver together to attend an event. We shared lunch at the Olive Garden. We prayed for our kids. We talked about all the plans we had for the following days and weeks. I was especially grateful for her support that day.  I still can’t believe she’s gone, and I’m so grateful that our paths came together in such a powerful way for the last six months. I can only imagine what she heard as she entered the presence of God: Well done, good and faithful servant.

DeNova was a one of a kind gem. Denise and I remember her smile, warm and inviting personality, her faith, her deep care for her friends and family. Seven years ago, when Denise and I were back in Ohio, she and Matthew’s were one of the main friendships that brought us back to this area.  We miss her dearly, but know that we will see her again in heaven. Our prayers are going out for Matthew, Abbie, and Malcolm that God will give them comfort during this painful time.

I first met DeNova outside of Patty Murray's downtown Seattle office last year at a pro-life rally. She was in search of some medication for a friend, and I saw a foreshadowing of the gentle, compassionate friend that I came to briefly know. Later on, I stood in solidarity with her protesting at Drag Queen Story Hours and witnessed her relentlessly fighting for the innocence of children. She was courageous in her service to our Lord, and I look forward to seeing her again in Glory." Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near." (Phillipians 4:5).

Denova was the "glue" for our bible study--she kept the calendar, planned group getaways, hosted, fed and loved on all of us! It's fitting that now that very group is what most sustains me in losing her.

Denova's (and Matthew's) generosity was so evident to me, any request for fundraising support for Kingdom work was so kindly MORE than met.

I will so miss her others-focused attitude, her snazzy scarves and her elegant up-do!
