ForeverMissed
Derek “Buford” Harlow, 42, of Jamestown lost his courageous battle to cancer at Soin Medical Center surrounded by family on November 17, 2021.  Derek was loved by everyone who knew him.  He worked at WPAFB for 12 and a half years with friends he called family. He is preceded in death by his Father Doug Harlow, Maternal grandparents Ray and Dora Perdue, Paternal Grandparents Kenneth and Bertha Harlow, Cousin Roger Sheppard, and Aunt Delores James Uncle David James, Uncle Benny Sheppard, Uncle Steve Robling.   He is survived by his wife Amy, his children Cole, Cooper, Lindsey and Aaron.  His Mother Barb Harlow, Brother Eric (Wendy) Harlow, nieces Ellie and Karlie Harlow.  Many Cousins, Aunts, and close Friends.  Derek was the best father and husband. Derek was the life of the party. To know him was to love him.  He loved many things fishing, camping, Old Timers, Halloween, Demolition Derbies and fellowship.  He will greatly be missed more than anyone can ever explain.  There is a lot more I can say about this man, but not enough space.  A special Thank you to nurse Brittany who cared for him like one of her own family members as he received the best care under her.  A celebration of life will be held December 18, 2021 at 4:00 pm at the Greene County Fairgrounds in Xenia OH, in building number 2.  #HEYBUDDY

Derek, I can’t thank you enough for the amazing times we had as kids. In all my years since Whiteman St. I’ve yet to encounter another human being with your spark and your ability to make everyone around them laugh. You are an absolute one of a kind and I’m so thankful for the time I was blessed to spend with you.
I will see you on the other side, Brother.

My deepest condolences and most sincere prayers for peace and comfort for the entire Harlow family. I am so sorry.

Derek was such an amazing individual that made the people around him feel good. I will never forget his coconut bra and grass skirt he wore to my wedding reception. Derek was the life of the party and you could always count on him to make you smile. Derek you will be missed and all your NC family loves you very much. I’m very grateful for having you in our family for the time we did . Love you Derek❤️

Buford, from the first time I meet you I knew you were my kind of person, kind, genuine, generous and one of a kind. I went numb when I heard you went home. I thought why did God take this incredible man that did so much good in this world then it hit me that your work here was complete and you had another calling in heaven. I will always remember the good times and smile every time I hear your name spoken. until we meet again save me some room up there because you are infectious with you smile. Thank you my friend ♥️

I’ve lost a lot of friends and buddies over the years. When I heard Dereck was on his way home I felt really different. He was one of the good ones, not to be cliche’, His smile and laugh will always be in my mind. We lost track of one another, my fault I moved away….. Dereck and I met in high school and spent a lot of time together in the ole ISS that Greene joint provided. That man turned into one of the best people I know. I got to know his kids cause I grew up with Christina….. imagine that. A guy I knew had kids with a girl I grew up with!!! He was an awesome dad…. And awesome friend ! I’m really sad that he left but happy that he’s gonna be home! I hope to have his enjoyment of life….. I’ll miss him!
