Her Life

In Memoriam and in Appreciation

Diana Gail Sacks, daughter of Benny and Jessy, and sister of David,   was born on November 11, 1940.

 

Diana dedicated her time to community work. She read to children at the Felipe de Neve Library. She, also, devoted her time to young neighborhood children who came to her home for creative dramatics, and her story-telling abilities.

 

Her academic achievements were impressive. She had a B.S. degree in elementary education fromFairleighDickinsonUniversityas well as a teaching certificate in child development fromL.A.Community College. Diana, also, had training in the Reggio Emilia Method and a diploma from the American Montessori Society.

 

She began her career in N.Y.C. with the Shadow Box Theater Company where she was able to display her creative communication talents as a puppeteer, actress and singer, for children as well as adults.

 

After a year, she worked as the head of a team of four teachers at the Escuela Hispana Montessori Head Start program. Four years later, she continued her love of teaching and, once again, collaborated with colleagues as head teacher at theWestsideMontessoriSchool.

 

InLos Angeles, she worked as a tutor teaching adults reading and conversational skills. Then, she did her student-teaching at the USC Head Start Program. From there, she worked as an associate pre-school and kindergarten teacher at theUniversalStudiosChildcareCenter.

Teaching kindergarten children at The Cornerstone Accelerated Learning Academy was her next professional step.

 

The Bresee Foundation allowed Diana to utilize her expertise in tutoring young adults in reading and conversational skills.

 

At theTempleAkibaNursery School, she continued teaching young children.

 

 

 

 

 

Diana died onFebruary 15, 2007.  Her memory is a blessing to all of us.
