Diane’s birthday and my mind keeps going back to our childhood, the
bedroom we shared, the friends we shared and all the birthdays we shared
as we grew older. I miss my sister, my friend. I know this is also a hard day for
Joe, John and family but also I am sure they too are thinking of all the good times they had as a family and hold those memories in their hearts. . I love you Diane, Rest In Peace.  Sister, Jean

It is with great sadness that I send you this note to express how sorry we are to hear that Diane has passed away. She was my cousin and very special friend for many years. As you may know they lived in an apartment in our home in West Chester, Pennsylvania. Previous to that she had lived with my mom and pop in Chester, Pennsylvania while she attended college.

You mentioned her blueberry pie. We visited Diane and Joe in Maine and she made us her special blueberry pie more than once. It was the greatest.

Patricia has spoken to me about funeral arrangements. I hope you all understand that my agent physical condition will prevent me from attending in person. I will be with you all in spirit and with love.

My special regards to Joe in this troubled time. He has been and continues to be a good friend. We have shared lots of good times and very difficult times over the years and is my pleasure to have him in our inner circle.

Please know that we love you all.

Diane, my sister, my friend. I already miss you but I will always remember our
childhood at “663”, our friends and later our luncheons with the four sisters.
We were so lucky to have each other and to be able to keep in touch through
the years. Our last time all together at the Daniel Webster, so special. Thank you to Joe for making sure you could join us. I can still feel your soft aged
hands as I held them through your last days. Until we meet again.
My love, Jean

I am saddened to learn that Diane was so ill. I have many memories of Diane and her sisters as our mothers were very close friends and we were all active at First Baptist. May all the happy memories bring a smile when you think of them. I pray that the love of family and friends and the promises of our loving Savior, Jesus, comfort each of you in the days and months ahead.

Diane Elizabeth Hoyt Jordan, 82, passed away at her home early on the morning of June 18th with her husband Joseph by her side…just the way she wanted. Diane was born September 7, 1938, the daughter of Allen Philip and Shirley Barbara Hoyt in Dorchester, MA. She spent the younger years of her life in Abington, MA, graduating from Abington High School in 1956. In 1960 she graduated with a degree in biology from Eastern Baptist College in St. Davids, PA with a degree in Biology. There she met, fell in love with, and married Joseph (her “Joe”) Jordan.

For nearly 62 years they lived their lives in active pursuit of what they were lead in faith to do. They were blessed with two sons, Frederick and John, and foster daughter Deborah, who came to live with them while they were serving as house parents in the Presbyterian Children’s Village in Rosemont, PA.

Diane’s professional life was spent “in the health care of others”. The majority of her career was spent at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. Possessing a brilliant mind, she often “out diagnosed” the doctors with whom she worked with. An expert level Scrabble player and puzzle master, she took her greatest pleasure from the fresh blueberry pies which she baked from the berries harvested from her summer home in Franklin, ME.

Diane was always in the service of others and many people she met along her life's journey became deeply connected through her love and guidance. With an incredible wit, she often made her caregivers claim her as their favorite patient.

As noted above, while married for nearly 62 years with Joe, the love of her life, she created a life full of love and opportunity. Diane is survived by husband Joe, son John and his wife Michelle, daughter Deborah and her husband Joe Casey, sisters Phyllis Henrikson, Jean Carey, and Roberta Brown, seven grand children and many nieces and nephews. She will be missed terribly by them and her many friends, all of whose lives are so much better for having known her.

Those who wish to make a contribution in honor of her life may send it to:
