This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Diane Williams, (Mari Diane Barrie) 82 years old, born on April 5, 1938 in Vegreville Alberta and passed away peacefully at home in Burnaby BC with family on February 7, 2021. Diane was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister-in law and auntie. Diane cherished all of her family and was adored by all. Diane had many dear friends from her nearly 55 years in Burnaby, 20 half years (winters) in Mesa Arizona, as well as friends she kept in touch with from her earlier years in Edmonton and Pincher Creek Alberta. Diane will be missed immensely, she is survived by heartbroken husband of 60 years Frank, daughter Juanita (Mike), grandson Jared, son Frank (Sue), grandsons Seth and Oliver. We will remember her forever.

Hayden and I were so blessed to have made the trip out to see you a couple of summers ago. That trip gave us all so much to carry with us and we are thankful for every memory. Hayden said it was the first time he experienced what it was really like to have grandparents and in your beautiful grandson he found a brother. Their shared life experiences has been a strong bonding point for them. Visits from and to Uncle Frank and Auntie Diane’s were favourites for all of your nieces and nephews. I know I always felt so loved by you both. Uncle Ken and you, Uncle Frank, gave Hayden such a gift of your time and love that visit and I have no words. Auntie Diane was definitely the sweetest lady with the biggest heart. It took a lot of get her blood boiling, I really only saw it twice and each time it was to my defence and I thank you for your love and support. All of our lives are a little less bright without you in it. My favourite picture, Lynn probably still has, is you, me and Auntie Mary in your kitchen. Your smile will live in our hearts forever and we will never stop teasing Jared and checking in on him for you! He is an amazing young man! Thank you for being you, I pray we meet again. For the rest of the family, thank you for sharing you wife, mom, and grandma, even in her final days she worried about everyone but herself. I have not known many people with such a pure heart, quick wit and a hug that could solve a lot.
All our love Hayden and Danielle

Diane you were always a light in our family, ever since we dressed mother Mac up at your engagement party to Frank in Calgary. The driving force to all our family reunions, all family get togethers at your house or others you were always buzzing around making sure every one was looked after. Many great memories over the 60 some years. One that I remember fondly was when I was in Mesa and we got into the ???? and had a wonderful evening of memories shared. Also so happy I got to see you January 2020 and such a lovely time and the wonderful walk we took the day the sun finally came out from behind the clouds, You are going to be missed by all. You will remain in our hearts along with many happy memories. You are now with able to fly with the Angels. We lost a little bit of perfect and know we will not forget you,

Love forever Diane
Love to Brother Frank, Juanita, Frank jr and their families

Though we were never actually related (only via marriage) Auntie Diane, Uncle Frank, Juanita and Frank were such a huge part of our family, especially the years growing up. I have so many wonderful memories of our families annual summer camping trips, as well as a few too many reunions and parties to mention!

Diane was one of the most loving and kind people I have ever known and was always there to help if you ever needed anything. Her joyful spirit and infectious laugh are things I will always remember. Though we lost touch a bit over the years I feel very blessed that I got to spend some quality time reconnecting with Diane and Frank in recent times.

Rest in peace Diane, and thank you for all the joy that you brought to all of our lives!

TRIBUTE TO AUNTIE DIANE
I FEEL SO BLESSED AND GRATEFUL TO HAVE HAD AUNTIE DIANE IN MY  LIFE.
SHE MARRIED INTO THE CRAZY WILLIAMS/MACLENNAN FAMILY OVER 60 YEARS AGO AND OVER THOSE MANY YEARS EVERY FAMILY MEMBER FELL IN LOVE WITH HER KINDNESS, HER SENSE OF HUMOUR AND GENEROSITY OF SPIRIT.
DIANE BECAME MY MOM’S BEST FRIEND AND I KNOW THEY SHARED A LOT OF GOOD TIMES AND SOME NOT SO GOOD TIMES OVER THE YEARS BUT COULD ALWAYS GET TOGETHER FOR A GLASS OF WINE OR MAYBE A RYE AND HAVE SOME GIGGLES. I REMEMBER DIANE COMING TO OUR HOUSE IN VANCOUVER WHEN MY MOM HAD PNEUMONIA AND IRONING CLOTHES IN MY MOM’S BEDROOM WHILE THEY LAUGHED AND TALKED AND MOM RESTED IN BED. NOW THAT IS A GOOD FRIEND!!
DIANE WAS A HUGE SUPPORT TO ME AS MY MOM HAS GONE THROUGH HER DEMENTIA JOURNEY AND SHE ALSO BECAME MY CLOSE FRIEND. I COULD ALWAYS PHONE HER AND TALK ABOUT MOM AND WE WOULD END UP LAUGHING OVER SOME OF THE SILLY TALKS THEY HAD OR THINGS THEY HAD DONE TOGETHER. WE HAD A FEW GOLF TRIPS TOGETHER THE THREE OF US AND I HAVE A SOME GOOD STORIES OF MY OWN TO TELL ABOUT THOSE.
DIANE HAD A LOVE OF LIFE AND PEOPLE EVIDENCED BY HER MANY FRIENDS. HER LOVE OF FAMILY SHOWED IN HOW FONDLY SHE TALKED OF HER GRANDKIDS, JARED,SETH & OLIVER AND THE CLOSENESS TO HER KIDS, JUANITA AND FRANK THAT I PERSONALLY WITNESSED AT END OF LIFE. SHE AND UNCLE FRANK WILL ALWAYS HOLD A SPECIAL PLACE IN MY HEART AND I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER THE MANY FAMILY CAMPING TRIPS AND DINNERS WE SHARED.
AUNTIE DIANE MAY NOT HAVE BEEN AWARE OF THE RESULTS OF HER KINDNESS BUT EVERY BIT OF POSITIVE ENERGY SHE GAVE HAS MADE IT A BETTER PLACE FOR ALL OF US.
I WILL MISS MY AUNTIE DI. I FEEL SO GRATEFUL TO HAVE HELD HER HAND AT THE END AND I WILL THINK OF HER WITH LOVE AND MISS HER FOREVER........................................................SUE

I have many fond memories of Diane as we spent summer holidays together on Vancouver Island. Diane was always warm and welcoming whenever I visited the Williams' home in Burnaby. Many laughs and sometimes a few tears were shared. I'll never forget the gentle way Diane spoke and how she listened intently. I am very sad that she is no longer with us and I pray for peace and comfort for all who loved her. Rest in sweet peace, Diane.

I've known Diane for over 33 years. My Sue took me to Diane's 50th birthday at Diane & Franks home in Burnaby, and it was a wonderful time!

Diane was always so much fun to be with and ever so kind and positive!
In all the years I've known her, I've never heard her say anything negative about anyone!
She truly was an extremely beautiful Human Being, inside and out!!!

I loved Diane and will miss her so much!
I am grateful to have shared wonderful times with her and now wonderful memories!!!

My family and the Williams' family spent many a happy summer vacation at Dick and Di's and Pacific Playgrounds on Vancouver Island. For my brother Brad and me, Diane and Frank were the aunt and uncle who weren't, officially, but in practice really were and are. :) Much loved, much admired; much laughter, much caring; now, Diane, much missed. It's hard to imagine her on this plane any more, because she had such a warm, glowing spark of vitality. I can't help but feel there's a part of her that's still with us. Rest in peace, Auntie Diane. Frank, Juanita, Frank, and your extended families, our deepest condolences. Much love, Greg, Abby, Alec and Rachel Crawford
