This is not a story, but just some thoughts swirling in my head today and how some family members celebrated your first birthday in heaven.

Diane, today is your first birthday in heaven. Did the angels bake you a cake?
I wish I was there to be with you.

Jennie took you on a hike to Kalamalka Lake Park. You will always be there. And you are closer to the family.

Jennie is going to visit Connie, Stacy, and Jeremy tomorrow for some cake in remembrance of you birthday. I am sure Nana will be there too. Jeremy will blow out the candles for you.

Corrie, will have to wait until she is 55. She was counting on you to do her shopping so she could get the seniors discount. LOL

I think of you not only today but everyday. But I know you do not want to see me cry so I will stop my tears from falling. I miss you and so does Magic (the cat)

Diane was babysitting and we (Corrie, Connie and Jennie) were playing with kids from the street behind our house.  We came across Jeff P a boy in the same grade that Jennie was in.  We (sisters) knew that Diane thought Jeff P's older brother was cute.  We conspired with Jeff P to somehow get his brother to give Diane a kiss.  Dont remember how but we somehow got Diane outside and to the street behind the house.  All I remember was Diane standing at the Jeff P's door and his brother came to the door and gave her a kiss.  She had no idea he was going to do it.  She was so embarrassed dare I say elated.

I received a call at the office from Diane one day in September. Ryan had called to say Jill was in labor and it was time for Diane to come to Surrey Memorial Hospital. Jill had promised Diane she would be the first person after her and Ryan to hold the baby. Knowing this, I told Diane to get ready and meet me outside as I would be in a hurry to take her to the hospital and get back to the office.

I knew Diane was very excited as she was more anxious than usual and kept talking about the baby and all the things that had to be done. The room was getting too crowded for everyone so some had to be seated in the waiting area.

When Isabella arrived to the room, everyone wanted to hold her, but Jill said only after Diane was the first to hold her. The problem was no one could find Diane. Everyone was looking for her. Bridgette call me to see if I heard from Diane only to say no one could find her anywhere. How can the hospital misplace Diane?

Apparently, they found Diane in a waiting area further down from the room where the nurse said to stay and they will get her when the time comes. There must of been a change of shifts as they nurses did not know she was there

I was glad to get the call that they found Diane. Everyone was waiting for her as they all wanted to hold Isabella.

If you know Diane, and tell her to stay in an area where she is unfamilar and tell her you will be back to get her, she will be there. She will not leave that area until you return.

Everything worked out for the best including a big smile on grandma Diane

 

I remember that first dinner invite from Diane. We decide to do a Friday night dinner and rent some movies.

Not knowing what to expect, I had a bigger lunch at the office than usual. She made Hamburger helper, mashed potatoes, and veggies. In my thirty years, I have never had Hamburger helper before, and must say it really was not that bad. She said she did not know what to cook but knew I was a big eater so that was the first home cooked meal we had together. This was fully understandable as she had a growing son and some new guy at the dinner table who like to eat.

Well as dinners go by, I never realized that there were so many different varieties of Hamburger helper as this became Diane's signature dinner menu. I had to hint to her that if she was going to cook dinner that we needed some variety, as I can only eat so much of Hamburger helper where it was becoming tiring to my palate. She tried some baked chicken dishes and a dish called porcupine balls (these were tasty).

But in the end, the kitchen was eventually taken over by Master chef Jeff and Diane as the sous chef. She did not mind this as together we made some good tasty dinners. Something had to give as we were headed towards Hell's Kitchen !....LOL !!!
