This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Diane Hembree, 77, born on September 14, 1938 and passed away on October 14, 2015. We will remember her forever.

Diane was born September 14, 1938 in San Diego, California and grew up in Alameda and San Leandro. She graduated from San Leandro High School in 1956.   Diane raised her two children Mike and Michelle in Fremont and West Covina, California and was a dedicated single parent after her divorce in 1968.

Work was a big part of her life as she had a successful carreer.  She worked at Soft Gel Technologies, as she was hired as one of the companies' first few employees, and worked for many years as a great and dedicated employee in sales, admin assistant and other roles.  She retired in the spring of 2013 as VP, Sales Administration.

Diane had a vibrant and independent personality and was a successful carrerwoman and matriarch of the family. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren and loved to openly share photos and details with friends.  When she wasn't working or spending time with family, she really enjoyed relaxing at home.  She really looked forward to her biweekly salon time and had such a wonderful relationship with the salon and always had great looking hair and nails.  Earlier in her adult life she read avidly, played mahjong for many years, and took great joy in spoiling her cat, Daisy.  In the most recent years she loved reality shows and other talk shows, after her favorite soap opera went off the air.

There are not words to express the loss that came so quickly of this truly good and loving sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. We will strive to carry on her devotion to be such a good person and love others.

Diane is survived by her son, Mike Hembree; daughter, Michelle Hembree; sister, Kathy Smith; brother, Rick Brown; granddaughters, Sarah Hembree Ramos, Katie Coppenrath, and Heidi Smith; and her great grandchildren, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends during the weekend of December 5th and details will be forthcoming.  Please emal Sarah Hembree Ramos at hembree.sarah@gmail.com or at (510) 289-5249.

Beach Boys and the Beach

October 17, 2015

As Diane's granddaughter growing up, I have so many memories.  But one that sticks out the most is her love of being near the beach and Beach Boys music.  We all loved her place when she lived in Redondo Beach and I remember so many times where we had the windows open with the beach breeze and playing Beach Boys records on the record player.
