Dirk was an incredible carpenter who dedicated his entire career to mastering his craft. He finished his career at Exhibit Concepts Inc, building museum and trade show exhibits to be displayed all over the United States. There was almost nothing Dirk could not do. It seemed if there was anything that came up, he could fix it, build it or repair it. If we needed something done, Daddy was who we went to and he was always ready to help. He enjoyed baking and sharing it with many and listening to praise and worship music. One of his greatest pastimes of all, was sitting around a bonfire soaking in the sounds of joy and laughter from his family.
Dirk was a husband/father/grandfather who didn't have to be at the center of attention, he would say his favorite place to be was on the outside, watching his wife, kids and grandkids live, love and laugh together. He would always say that God put him here to be a father and a grandfather. He accomplished that very well! His incredible faith and love for God carried him through many difficult times and in the end HE WON!

Cheryl and family, I’m so sorry for the loss of your husband, father, and grandfather. From what Cheryl has shared and what I’ve read, he was a special man who cherished his family and God, above all else What a legacy he has left for you all. There will always be a hole in your hearts, but his memory will live on for years to come.

Dear Cheryl, Phyllis, Ned, and Tad,
Dirk will always be in my memory as a kind, loving person who was just a teenager when I met him. I stayed with the Becker family for a summer ministry program. I remember how much he loved to golf as a teen, and I even walked around the course once with him and Don. I also remember that Dirk gave me a John Denver album. I still have it! It was great to reunite with Dirk and Phyllis and Tad a few years ago and hear all about the families. May God be with you all in this difficult time. But praise God that Dirk is rejoicing in heaven this Christmas. I always think of Dirk when I use the wooden napkin holder that he made for David and me for a wedding gift. I have had it and used it for 41 years now! His work is always quality work! Blessings to you all and may God hold you close and give you peace. Love, Beth and David Lageveen

Dirk was my coworker for about ten years, and more importantly a friend and mentor. From the start I always looked up to Dirk, as he was the best at what he did. Difficult projects, late nights, frustrating situations,  he always kept cool and positive.. I've learned a great many things from Dirk and am very lucky to have had the privilege of working with him. He gave me a record player a few years back I think he said he bought in 1976. I bought some parts for it, brought them to work and he fixed it up for me. If you know Dirk he could fix anything. I offered it back but he said no way its yours, that's how he was, he would do anything for you. I only wish I could have known him longer. Dirk will always be in my thoughts and I am honored to have known him and been his friend.
