My thoughts and prayers are with everyone who knew him. I did not know Dirk however, I do know Christine. She has such a kind spirit and is a blessing to know. Sending hugs to her during this time.

Dirk was a special friend to me and I will miss him. He was an easy guy to spend time with. I went to the Air Force Museum with him and his dad years ago. I was impressed with the way he took care of his dad while we were there. It was an example of how kind he was.

He would pick out movies he thought I would enjoy and we went to see them together. We would also drink beer together in my shed and discuss "Guy Stuff." He was just a neat guy to be around. I expect to see him again.

Dirk was a kind and willing care giver. His happiness came while caring for his parents, his brother Craig, Christine, and his granddaughter Abigail. I had the chance to meet him as a teenager when a school mate to Christine. In the last 6 years, I was able to see him as a partner and friend to Christine. He was a fabulous papaw! Protective to a fault and celebrated Abigail's affection for him. He will be missed by many. He will be missed by me. May God grant him peace.

Best Snacks EVER!

June 14, 2020
Dirk liked to cook and introduced Jay and I to Nuts and Bolts.  It was his signature snack and oh so delicious.  It took a bit of coaxing but FINALLY he gave me the recipe.  Mine never tasted as good as his recipe... Jay loves it.  I'm thankful to have this small thing reminding me of Dirk, the gentle giant.
