Dith Pran is an inspirational person. He taught me to never give up. Dith Pran was strong person who didn't give up and kept fighting to see his family again. Family was very important to Dith. Dith had to pretend to be an uneducated villager and work in the fields for little food. The conditions were harsh and if you acted if you were rich or came from the West, you wold be killed instantly. If you disobeyed and remembered the past, you could've been killed too. During Khmer Rouge time, the Year Zero, nothing has happened and they were starting new. Dith Pran had to obey to save his life, but one day he decided to escape. He was able to travel to the Thai border and join a refugee camp where he was able to contact Sydney. Dith Pran didn't have a choice to give up and just die because he wanted to see his family again. He had to put mind over matter and do what he was told. Dith Pran is an inspiration to me because he taught me to keep fighting for what I want, no matter what the conditions are.
