Mrs. Phipps was born Friday, April 11, 1924, in Chambers County, Alabama. She was a graduated of Lanett High School where she was a member of the Beta Club. Mrs. Phipps retired from the Lanett Mill office after 43 years. She sang at weddings and funerals, was an avid reader, and loved fishing and bird watching. Mrs. Phipps was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lanett.

Survivors include her daughter, Darlene Bowles of Lanett; her grandson, Chuck (Tammy) Bowles and their children, Chaz, Chase and Bailie.
