His Life

A Tribute to My Brother by Kristy Runde

October 16, 2013

Don Allen Clary was born on December 31, 1982 at 3:13 p.m. in St Joseph, MO. Don Allen was the youngest of 5 kids:  3 girls and 2 boys. He was also the biggest baby. He weighed over 10 lbs. at birth.
He was a quiet kid until you got to know him. Even then, he wasn't a big talker unless it was a subject that he was really interested in. He was a BIG guy and reached his adult height of 6 ft. 5 in. while still a junior in high school. Don Allen was 6 ft. 1 in. when he was 12 years old. Even though he was almost always the tallest guy in the room, he never once used his height to intimidate anyone. He always wanted others to be comfortable and happy around him.
Don Allen was the type of guy that would be at your front door willing to help whenever you needed it, but never expected anything from you for it. Just knowing he was able to help was good enough for him. He was never very comfortable with alot of attention over any chore or job he was able to help with. Which is why I know without a doubt that he is looking down now, seeing all the stuff that has happened and that will happen in honor of him, and just shaking his head saying "I was just doing my job".
Don Allen joined the National Guard in February of his junior year of high school. He was the 4th generation of our family to join the military and serve overseas during war time. He comes from a long line of military service and was always very proud to serve his country.
There is not a day that goes by that I am not missing or thinking of my brother. There is also not a day that passes when I am not the most proud big sister on the face of this planet. I will never stop being amazed at just how far his name and his story has traveled and just how many lives he has touched by doing his job on November 8, 2004.
