The man who was my Father

February 21, 2019

I loved my Pap so much. He was my father in every way. I never got a chance to tell him that. That is my biggest regret.

A hole was left in all of our hearts when he passed. A lot of us handled it differently. But I strive every day to live a life he would be proud of.

My oldest Daughter was given the name Trinity, in honor of him and his catholic background. Oh what I would give to let my kids know him. His smile, his humor... I dream often that I am back in that house in Summerfield, waking for school to the sound of him clicking away at the keyboard on his computer, the smell of coffee filling the house. I can still hear him snoring while snoozing on the couch.

I can’t believe it has been so long, When it hurts like it was just yesterday. I think of him every day, holding tight to the memories. I remember when he had the 2 door red Nissan, we were following a motorcycle that had sped past us, and just for giggles Pap activated the alarm system on his car. The biker thought he was being chased by cops and zoomed away. I’m fond of that memory, because his laughter is still so clear.

I am thankful we have this to share with each other. I love you all.
