I first met Pam and Don about 10 years ago, when they invited us to their Bay Area home overlooking the San Francisco Bay.  We immediately felt welcomed.  Over the years we enjoyed time with them in San Felipe as well as accompanying them on adventures in Puerto Vallarta. As Don got to know me better, he opened up more and I enjoyed his incredible wit and sense of humor.  He loved giving us a tour of his new home in San Felipe, and you could see the sense of pride.  Don was never boastful, always humble, and very generous. He was truly a gentleman, and I am so fortunate to have known him.  RIP, Don.  You were loved by many.

Don was a Brother Viet Nam veteran who I was blessed to have known. He became a very special person in my life and I enjoyed spending time in the kitchen with him cooking for our wives.
I miss him…….

Don was a man that set an example of how mankind should live their lives.

He was warm, sincere, always smiling and willing to lend a helping hand.

His suggestions on how to fix or repair things always worked and I still use some of the things he gave me.

Whenever I needed advice on any situation he had the right answer.

We were buddies and spent time together while our wives did whatever gals do. Mostly shop!

I remember celebrating an anniversary of theirs. They wanted a nice ocean-view quiet dinner on the malecon in San Felipe.

We got the perfect table and we’re having a nice conversation with
Mdrinks when along came a massive parade with a priest in full attire and his parishioners of many coming right in front of our table and view.

They set up a small altar outside of the restaurant and began to speak the message. I wanted to move but Don made light of it as he always would so we all laughed and had a great evening.

Don would confide in me and I with him and we had a great friendship that I miss every single day.

Don inspired us to purchase a Polaris Razor but prior to doing so we would go on beach runs. It was always a great time. One of the first we did Pam let me drive theirs and for some reason it would only go 5 miles per hour. We thought something was wrong with their new toy. Don jumped behind the wheel and no problem, peddle to the metal, away we went. We learned it had a speed regulator and if you didnt engage the seatbelt it was slow moving. We laughed over this many times.

I have many memories of Whale watching, corn hole, shuffle board, pool, darts, ping pong and full moon parties at their home or beach bin fires at ours as well asAl’s Back Street, festivals and more.

I am a honored to have been his friend.

May he rest in peace. I miss him.

Don was always such a kind and caring man, so very thoughtful.

He was a quiet man until he really got to know us which didn’t take long as our acquaintance sparked to a quick and wonderful friendship. Don and Pam had moved permanently to San Felipe the same year Jim and I did.

He was always, always, always such a pleasure to be around.

Don never showed frustration or anger, such a mellow guy!

He would do anything for us and anyone! He loved to help and was always offering a hand.

When I think of Don I see that charismatic smile, his constant calloused bare feet, and his laughter.

When something struck him as funny, man his laughter made me laugh and was infectious.

We had some wonderful trips together, unfortunately not as many as we’d hoped for.

There were many fantastic outings, and the friendship we shared became truly like a family.

He enjoyed our kids and they truly loved him.

I remember he and Pam drove a very long distance to our Delta River home for Natalie’s college graduation party, and he generously and lovingly brought a case or two of red wine he made.

He was a very talented wood worker and made Mexican train dominoes trays for us. They were crafted to perfection.

He even made a set for Wayne and Dave, bringing them all the way to Puerto Vallarta.

There are so many memories of Don, and he will forever have a place in my heart. I truly miss him and think of him every day.

RIP my amigo, til we meet again.

Enjoy the barefoot nation on the other side until you can dance with your bride.

Don was a good friend and neighbor, very obliging, generous, kind, and sincere.
A great memory was going to Los Algodones with him and Pam and friends and staying there overnight.
The restaurant staff cratered and fed us and then left without asking us to pay.
The next day all of us were wondering who paid the bill...we did pay that next day and wondered what really happened that last night.

There are some people who bring a light so great to the world that even after they have gone the light remains. I think of Don as always being the light for his family!

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal.
My fondest memory of Don will always be of him hosting one of their fabulous full moon mixers, barefoot, and slow dancing with Pam on their deck. Music, full moon backdrop, and the obvious deep love and affection they carried as a couple. A truly beautiful, magical memory.
