Retirement

May 12, 2015

Upon retirement, Don & Carrie showed their love for the water.  Initially, they split each year between Minong, WI in summer and Fort Myers, FL in winter.  In Minong, they enjoyed the relaxed life of a cabin on Lake Pokegama.  Don enjoyed fresh-water fishing and other outdoor activities.  In Fort Myers, they also enjoyed life on the water with a waterfront home on the Caloosahatchee River.  They spent much time exploring and fishing the gulf coast waters.  In 2013, Don and Carrie moved to yet another waterfront home enjoying a beautiful view of the confluence of the Mississippi and St. Croix Rivers in Prescott, WI.

Family Life

In January 1965, while working for Maytag and living in Richmond, VA, Don met the love of his life, Carolyn "Carrie" Juricic.  Don had known of Carrie through company work and schemed to avoid his district manager's plan to keep all service managers out of town when the home economists came in.  That's how he met Carrie at the airport in Richmond as she was arriving and he was leaving.  They hit it off immediately staying up talking all night until they had to go to work the next day.  They went to work in opposite directions only seeing each a handful of times before Don proposed on Valentine's Day.  They were married shortly after on May 15th, 1965.

Don and Carrie first lived together in Richmond, VA and then moved to Crystal, MN starting a new Maytag appliance store featuring sales and service.  Their first child, Keith, was born on April 20, 1967, with Sara coming two years later on February 15, 1969, and Mark two years later yet on April 17, 1971.  The family lived in Princeton, MN for a period when Don worked for Marvin George Builders.  During this time, the family enjoyed a cabin in Outing, MN on Lawerence Lake.  This is where the kids first learned a love of boating and fishing.  In 1973, the family moved to Hudson, WI when Don started with Lindsey Water Treatment in Woodbury, MN.
