Donald Dean Williams was born in 1934 in the Ruby valley. He attended Virginia City schools, played basketball on the varsity team, and worked for the Foster Ranch. In 1955 he enlisted in the Air Force and became a flight engineer and captain. After 11 years of service he was honorably discharged and became a pilot for Pan American Airlines. He flew the Boeing 7x7 series internationally for 22 years before he retired at the age of 56. At various times, he was a member of the Virginia City Council, and served one term as mayor. He is survived by his brother Roger Williams of Virginia City; his daughters Tonia Spaulding of Tacoma and Crystal Williams of Los Angeles; his son David Spaulding of Dublin; and one granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his brother Thomas Williams of Virginia City. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Virginia City with military honors in the summer of 2023.
