First Meeting Don
March 11
My husband Ron and I were in a construction business back in the 70's and had gotten fairly large and needed a computer system. The company he was working for at that time was located in Pensacola, FL and we went there to train on those huge computers that were marvelous at that time with those gigantic drawers with huge pull-out drawers! We met Don first day there and started training on what felt like on machines with a foreign language but he was very good at having people educate us. Second day there I think it was, our brand new car decided not to start when we were finished for the day and were headed back to the condo on Pensacola Beach. We went back into the office intending to call the dealer to send someone out to check the car. Don appeared and said here are the keys to my car, take it home tonight and we will deal with your car tomorrow; I will ride home with a friend. That week we also went sailing with he and a friend on a small catamarand on a lake or cove by his apartment. That started a lifetime friendship with him. We bought a Choey Lee 48 sailboat and he was almost always on board with us, he was family, he was confidant, he was friend always. That friendship lasted from the 70's thru the years and was alway a constant in our and our children's lives. He will always be missed. Hope you are sailing around the world in your own way Don.
