Donald Kenneth Church went to his eternal life in Jesus Christ on Tuesday morning, March 5th, 2024.

The son of Wallace D. and Alice Morris Church, he was born on June 18, 1941 in Decatur, AL.

A member of Decatur Central Methodist Church & president of the MYFellowship. Graduate of Decatur High School 1959.

An Eagle Scout & Order of the Arrow, he served on the Greater Alabama Boy Scout Council in Birmingham AL.

A Graduate of The University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa with a Degree in Business. He was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity.

Following the Army ROTC program, Don was commissioned 2nd Lt., serving 3 yrs at Ft Ord California in the Army Infantry, retiring as Captain from the General's staff.

A committed Christian, Don was an active member of Riverchase United Methodist Church & the Aims Sunday School Class serving on the Finance Board, Board of Stewards and representative to the North Alabama Conference.  

After 40 yrs, Don retired from his career as Sales Representative for several upper end furniture companies including Ethan Allen & Hickory White.

Don and his wife of 60 yrs, Bonnie Gaissert Church, traveled the world to find “there’s no place like home”. They praise God that they have lived a blessed life that included their beloved daughter, Tama Allison Church Salem, and grandson, Adam R.Salem. 

Don treasured his many friends, dreamed of playing the banjo one day, loved civil war history & hunting and from his home on what is now called South Lake, he could fish to his heart's content!  

Most of all he loved Alabama football & basketball . ROLL TIDE!

A Celebration of life & placement of his urn will be delayed until June 18 at the National Cemetery 20 miles south of Birmingham. Details provided closer to the date.
