On July 26, 2016, Heaven welcomed home Donald (Don) Hoyt Pelfrey of San Antonio, Texas. Don was born October 12, 1947 in Rome, Georgia to Hoyt and Edith (Collins) Pelfrey. He graduated from Model High School in 1965. On June 12, 1974, he married the love of his life, Brenda Lynne Tanner, in Rome, Georgia. Don was employed with the U.S. Air Force, first as an active duty member and then as a civilian employee from 1973-2012.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, Hoyt and Edith Pelfrey, his sister Betty Lou Pelfrey, and his brother, Charles Pelfrey. Don is survived by Brenda his wife of 42 years, daughter Donna (Matt) Morris, daughter Angie (Leonard) Swann, daughter Heather (Chuck) Cyr, daughter Jana (Michael) Ramon, brother W.H. (Frances) Pelfrey, brother Jimmy Pelfrey, and many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.
Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to all. He enjoyed spending time with his family and instilled in them strong Christian values and his own hard work ethic. He also enjoyed gardening and playing golf every chance he got. He loved telling stories, making people laugh and gave the best hugs in the world. He was always there to help family and friends with whatever they needed. He was cherished by all he met and will be terribly missed.
Per his wishes, Don will be cremated and there will be no service held for him. We ask is that you remember him fondly and share the stories of how he touched your lives on the memorial website we established for him: http://donald-pelfrey.forevermissed.com.
