I will always and forever remember Dr. Bowers as a most compassionate and caring doctor, person and dear friend. He stood by my side through many trying times and never gave up on me. I just wish I could have talked with him one more time - he was a wonderful listener and always encouraged me to put forth my best efforts to overcome whatever problem I had facing me.

It's hard to believe this is already the first anniversary of his death. He is forever missed.

I had the honor and pleasure of working with Dr. Bowers as part of the Medical Staff Leadership at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport, MS   When elected Chief of Staff in 2008 I became his support staff.  One could always count on him to fair and kind, no matter the circustance.  He was firm, while still kind when it was needed.  He was well respected by his peers and colleagues in his clinical expertise and in his leadership abiltiies.  He had a fun outlook on life.  He was kind to me and my family.  Encouraging my husbands love of orchids - so much so we were honored to be the beneficators of "a few" orchids when he moved from Gulfport. We often have orchids in bloom and they always make me think of him.  If more people viewed the world through the lens he did, it would definitely be a better place. I am proud to have called him my friend.  We send our  prayers of comfort for his family and all who loved him.     - Connie & Lenny Keel

Greetings and condolences from St. Croix. The Friends of the St. Croix National Parks extend our deepest sympathies to Dr. Bowers' family and friends. I believe I met Dr. Bowers in the early 90's when he spoke on hyperbaric medicine. He was generous with his time and passion. He was so well loved that visitors from this page briefly crashed our website! I am told by his daughters that he would have laughed at that.  We are deeply honored and profoundly grateful to carry forward the marine conservation work he loved, in his memory.
