That year...

-the National Film Board was created

-Canada declared war on Germany

-Donna Mae Konshcuh was born

......on May 2,. She was the eldest child of Evelyn and Willaim Konschuh. She inherited the best of both parents, and had big blue eyes passed down from her daddy. She was born in Stettler Alberta into a large family. Her dad had 13 brothers and sisters, and her mother had 8 brothers and sisters.

Mom was the cutest little girl, with dark curly hair, bright blue eyes, and a plalful zest for life. and grew up in a small town. She adored her grandpa and grandma and spent many a time on the old farm. As she grew, she welcomed her brother Jack and became a true "big"sister. As well, she spent many atime with her aunts and uncles, all of whom came to visit from Red Willow.

Donna was her daddy' s favorite, and she looked a lot like him. She would always be where daddy was, and always had a close relationship with him. Her dad taught her how to drive the old Chevy, and it was one of her fondest memories.

Donna grew up with many cousins, but her favorite ones were Peggy and Pansy. The three of them were known as the Three Musketeers, because where one was the other two were close behind. They were close in age, and were the best of friends throughout childhood and into the teenage years.

Donna's favorite aunt, in her younger years,  was Ma Ella. She was a hereo to mom, and like a second mother. Ella died young, and mom Donna always remembered her. She also adored her cousin Ella Mae, who joined the air force. Donna always wanted to follow in her footsteps, and thought it was the best, most exciting thing in the world!

Donna attended school in Stettler, and this is where she began a life long love of learning. Donna was a bright child, and always graded well. Her teachers adored her, and she was passionate about anything creative. Science and social bored her, but writing, creating, and arts spurned her on. In school, she learned to draw and she was very good at it. She could draw models with wonderful clothes, and she always wanted to be a fashion designer. She was a great sewer, and learned to make fantasic clothes.

Donna grew into a handsome woman. Tall, and curvy, she was often teased for her height and build. As a teenager, she and her cousins would spend many a time doing teenage things- listening to rock and roll, smoking out back, doing hair and once in a while sneaking a drink! These are the years she also learned how to bake, cook, sew. She had 3 siblings at home, and often life was hard-she was relied on to look after the younger ones, and take care of them. Many a time she would come home from school and cook supper, and clean the house. Life was not easy, but Donna loved the large family, the many visits from her extended family, her schooling and love of learning.
