We are so thankful for the all of the love and caring that everone has given to us.
We miss Dori always, but we are so thankful for all of the love that her friends and family have provdied to us over the past year.

Please know that we are all so thankful for everyone's kind words and actions and that we will always be forever grateful.

We will show our love for Dori by being successful in caring for everyone, giving back to others in need, and becoming role models in our careers and in our personal l lives to let everyone know how fortunate we are to have them in our lives and to have Dori in our lives to help us make a positive difference every day.

Wow it has been a year since we all said good bye to our Dori!  She must be proud of what has happened since her passing! Al, Grant and Sophia have grabbed the Baton and ran at an Olympic pace!  What a Fight Dori gave to her condition.  She was a warrior and an inspiration to us all!!!  I feel sadness on occasion, but mostly I feel blessed to have been her Brother and Friend in this short life!!  We have all learned from such a strong Person!!  My heart bleeds today!!

I Love You Dori!

Hey Buddy- It’s so hard to believe that it’s been a year since we lost you. A day doesn’t go by that I don’t think about you. I miss you so much that my heart still hurts and you’ll Always  have a piece of it. I smile as I think of all the wonderful times we’ve had. As I Thought about the conversation we’d have on your birthday I can hear you say how I’m a year older than you, we’d just laugh cause although only by 2 months you’d always have to say by a year. I missed that call this year and all the other conversations we could  have had.  I’ve always hated being so far away from Ca and this year is no different. Your legacy my friend lives on within your family and friends. Thank you thank you thank you! You’re an inspiration for all.  As I look at the pictures of your celebration of life you touched so many people and still do. I know your dancing on tables and painting rainbows as bright as can be.  My friend always and forever.  I love you.

Thank you to the many people who contributed to making this video, especially those of you who provided pictures - you know who you are. It was an honor and a pleasure to be able to put together this video of Dori's life. I'd especially like to thank Al Powell for helping select the images and my wife, Louise, for choosing the songs and helping select and arrange the images,

A Poem for Dori

June 10, 2017

                                              A POEM FOR DORI

I cannot think of anyone who could light up a room with just a smile,

The way that Dori did....

I cannot think of anyone who had such artistic talent,

Always full of new ideas and inspiration

The way that Dori did....

Such zest for life, her kindness and boundless energy,

How much she loved Al, and loved her kids

The way that Dori did....

She was and still is, one of the greatest persons I have ever met

It was an honor and privilege to know her in my life!

It pains us greatly that we must gather to say goodbye

But she is still with us in the heavens and sky,

And if we always keep her in our heart,

Then we will never truly be apart.

Much love from all who knew you....

The making of the frame

June 5, 2017

As a 10 year old who had repeatedly been told that breaking dishes was worthy of great punishment, Dori blew my mind when she was babysitting me and told me of a project we would be doing. We went to a fancy import store (I think Pier 1) and was told to pick out my favorite 2 plates. Huge, ceramic plates with awesome designs. We went back home, wrapped the plates in towels and Dori instructed me to throw the plates as hard as possible on the cement. She probably had to tell me 4 or 5 times as I just stared in disbelief that these $20 plates were simply to be smashed. Eventually, she had to show me how to smash a plate, reassure me, and then I smashed my plate, joyiously and rebelliously. We (well, she) picked out the 'right' pieces and brought them inside. We eventually used the pieces to make the above frame for my mother. We took the picture on the same trip and spent the better part of two days making a gift for my mom to have. That was Dori. Kindness and thoughtfulness at all times.

Recipe

This is one of two recipes Dori made and then gave to me mid 1970's. This was around the time Dori came up with her logo.

I've known Dori for over 45 years and am one of the many women who are proud to call her my best friend.

She knew how to make me laugh when I was crying, how to make me feel good about myself when I was feeling down, and how to just listen when I needed to vent. I know most of her secrets and she knew most of mine.  She put up with me when I was "out there" and never judged my numerous (mis)adventures.

We probably roller skated in Venice beach (in our bikinis) more miles than anybody else.

The concerts we saw were so many I can't even name them all but here are a few: The Eagles, Led Zepplin, Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne, Jethro Tull, The Cars, Oingo Boingo when the Red Hot Chili Pepper's were the opening act, Bonnie Raitt, Supertramp, I think Genesis but it's a blur and the list goes on.

We spent countless days at Zuma and Topanga Canyon beach - all of us girls tanning in our teeny bikinis!

Top of Desoto, Topanga Canyon Park, Sagebrush Cantina.....OMG so much fun.

And then one by one we all got married, had kids, some of us relocated but we always kept in touch and Dori was the common demoninator.

The hole in my heart is huge and I am certain that it will take a long time for it to heal.

Riverside National Cemetery

May 27, 2017

Dori, Grant, Sophia, Angie and her daughter-in-law were able to visit me and my Marine Corps Unit at RNC.  Dori was introduced to my Unit Commanders and Marines I serve with.  My Marines and Me are so sad for the early passing of My most Amazing Sister Dori.

Our soul purpose at Riverside National Cemetery is to render Full Military Honors to our Fallen Brothers and Sisters that have served our Country in various capacities.

Dori has been recognized as a United States Marine Corp Observer in her passing!  She will have a Formal American Flag folded and presented to me on June 15,2017.  Also, please not Grant's Navy sweatshirt.  You rock Grant!

Semper Fi Dori!  Know that you will live on in Your Family's, Friends, and My Marine's Hearts Forever!!

Bravo!

This short video of my great friend Mark's dog 'Bravo', really touched Dori Before our Father's passing last July 22, 2016.  Mark came into town and got together with me to visit My Dad days before his passing.  Bravo brought smiles to my Dad"d face that were priceless.  My great friend Mark, Bravo, and a few shared beers brought so much needed emotions from my Dad just before he left us.  Dori, you will remember this vid every time you here 'Coyote'

Life is always too short!

May 25, 2017

Dori was such an inspiration to me and to all that knew her.  In the recent past there has been much tension between my Brothers and me (Tim and William).  Because our time here is so short (and this is for you and me both Dori), all has been forgiven and that is the way you, and Dad, would have wanted it!  I feel so good that your pain is gone, but all of our pain translates to very warm and Loving Bridge to the other side!

Dori Loved Celebrating Life!

May 17, 2017

Dori loved celebrating! She loved every holiday and decorated our house with beautiful flowers, paintings, gifts, and artwork throughout the year. She loved celebrating birthdays, weddings, graduation parties, new friends, and any other reason she could think of to celebrate!
