Born in Perth Amboy, NJ Doris was educated in local schools and Graduated from Perth Amboy High School in 1944. She resided in Metuchen for the last 50 years during which she was a member of The First Presbyterian Church of Metuchen, where she was a choir member and also an Elder, secretaryof The Board of Trustees and a member of Presbyterian Women, Doris worked in the lab at National Lead Company in Sayreville for 20 years and was accounts Payable and Receivable supervisor at Davidson Brothers in North Brunswick, prior to retirement.

  She was predeased by her husband, Robert E. Thomas in 1999 and her parents, Mary and Clarence Kjersgarrd and a sister, Virginia Nielsen, surviving are her son, Robert C. Thomas of Edison, a daughter, Brenda V. Thomas of Edison,a sister, Irene Roberts of Broomfield, CO and a great niece, Kerri Burlew of Freehold
