The girl with the diamond eyes
I first met Dorota the day she arrived in England and the first thing that struck me was her beaming smile and bright sparkling eyes. She was looking for a job and without a second thought I said yes.
This girl could do the work of three people and to a high standard so before long she was promoted. It was hard not to become friendly with Dorota as her nature was infectious. She wanted to know everything and was confident she could do everything to the point she scared me with her ambition. "teach me," was her saying to me.
We spent a lot of time together over a nine month period and I was never happier to teach a "go getter," like Dorota. She wanted to make her parents proud of her and she would always say to me, I come here to make it big.
I lost contact with Dorota but I have always remembered the ambitous young polish woman with an attitude to conquer.
I am not surprised this memorial site has been activated because she was special.
