Dorothy F. Buchanan went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, August 25, 2014 at the age of 95.

Dorothy was born in Altoona, Penna., in 1919 and was the daughter of Thomas Henry Jones and Anna May (Simms) Jones. She was the wife of the late George Wayne Buchanan, her husband of 48 years, who passed away in 1988. She had 6 sisters who preceded her in death. Her twin sister Anna Jones, Verna Kinney, Mildred Drass, Lillian Emery, Gertrude Luppold and Winifred Jones.
She lived in Brookhaven, Pa.for over 50 years. Dorothy’s greatest love was her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, her family and serving the Lord as custodian of Grace Bible Fellowship Church for more than 40 years. She exemplified the spirit of giving in everything she did including caring for 45 foster children over the years, making beautiful Afghans for family and friends and always helping others in need. She was also a prayer warrior who never ceased praying for her family and others. Her favorite Bible verse was Psalms 118:24: “This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it!” Mother would constantly remind us that “The Lords timing is always perfect.” How special it is that the Lord called her home on her husband Wayne’s birthday.

She is survived by her two daughters, Marjorie A. Wilson of Mullica Hill, N.J.and Janet L. Babcock of Lancaster, Pa., 7 grandchildren: Robert Wilson, Wendy Hunt, Michael Wilson, Rebecca Naughton, Brenda Wilson, Deborah Rivera, and Shelly Ogram and 16 great grandchildren.

Although we grieve, it is not as those who have no hope. We rejoice that Dorothy is in the arms of her Savior she loved so dearly and is no longer suffering. What a wonderful assurance we have of God’s salvation which is available to all who believe and trust in Him. We have many wonderful memories of Mom’s active and selfless life. Mom demonstrated a love to us that far surpassed anything we could imagine.

There will be a Celebration of Life Memorial Service held at Grace Bible Fellowship Church, 723 S. Providence Rd. in Wallingford, Pa.on Sunday, September 7th at 3pm, with Pastor Richard Taylor officiating.

Memorial remembrances may be made to Grace Bible Fellowship Church Mission’s Fund.
