Dorothy Hicks Tingen, 86, a lifetime resident of Granville County, passed away Friday, July 7, 2017 at Maria Parham Hospital in Henderson. She was the daughter of the late Hubert Alvin Hicks and Helen Harris. She was the widow of Wiley Tingen.

She was a dedicated lifetime member of Gray Rock United Methodist Church and a longtime member of the choir. She loved going on church bus tours with her cousins and friends and going to lunch with her friends Rachel Jones and Anna Bunce. After retirement she enjoyed sleeping late and staying up late. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 PM on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at the Eakes Funeral Chapel in Oxford by Rev. Matt Robinson. Burial will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in Oxford.

Surviving are her son, Terry Tingen (Karen) of Oxford, one brother, Joe Billy Hicks (Betty) of Oxford, two granddaughters, Jennifer Tingen Tagsold and Jessica Tingen Talley, one great-granddaughter, Savannah Tagsold and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wiley Tingen, a sister, Elizabeth Jones, two brothers, Nelson Hicks and Hubert “ Bud” Hicks and a special grandson, Chris Tingen.

Visitation will be held Sunday, July 9, 2017 from 2:00 to 3:15 PM at the Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford and at other times at the home of her son.

In lieu of Flowers, memorials may be made to Gray Rock Methodist Church, in care of Curtis Hicks, 3668 Cannady Mill RoadKittrellNC 27544.
