My thoughts trail back to when I was young,
thinking of all the good things you have done.
The road and steps were not a perfect journey
but a real blessing for six kids and all their yearnings.
Amazing you attending college, carrying babies and raising kids
you persevered to graduate despite obstacles facing you ahead.
Your teaching degree and father’s logging skills
took us to Alaska of which us kids gained life time thrills.
Adventure, independence and preservation was a must
but with your guidance we learned to build our self trust.
Our funds and resources were very tight
but with hard work and hidden faith we battled the fight.
I smile to think of my sewing and baking of bread,
a talent shared by you to help us stay ahead.
Our creative remodeling and painting to beautify our home
was our bonding journey together in doing it alone.
Your active life of sports: softball, swimming and tennis
was your gift from God to build the talent in us.
Like you, I have paved my road and traveled away
to pursue my dreams and make a difference each day.
The journey of life has brought typical family feuds
that strain relationships with some untruths.
While blessed with your confidence and words are few,
Just remember I will never stop loving you.
I cherish your Bible dated September 27, 1942
knowing firmly that God has always been with you.
I pray God took you in His arms and saved you that day
for I realize God blessed us with you in many ways.
Loving thoughts always, your grateful daughter Karen McClelland
