Aunt Betty a.k.a Ma, Mario has so many happy memories of you that it is impossible for him to pick only one. Your smile, your warmth, your sense of fun, and the special name you had for him, are all etched into his heart.

He is so glad he got to say a brief goodbye to you and knows you are now in a very joyful place with your family, who have been waiting for the right time to welcome you into paradise.

For me, that smile full of welcome and mischief, and your love of babies and children stands out so much.

Rest in peace special lady, and to Beth and all of your closest family and friends- our love, prayers and condolences.
Aisling, Mario and Gabriella.

Christi & Family, you have my most heartfelt condolences. Ma, I have many special & fun memories of you! Your wonderful and gentle soul will forever remain in our hearts. Christi and I spent so much time with you as teenagers. You were Ma to me as well and so welcoming. You always kept me giggling with our little secret communications and actions. I will never forget our trips with you to Jersey, staying with Aunt Pat and shopping. When Christi moved in with you, I swear I spent more time with you than her! LOL

Praying all the wonderful memories of Ma’s love and fun nature will continue to comfort all.

Rest In Peace Ma.

Aunt Betty I am so grateful for our 'hanging out' times together. You know there were going to be laughs if aunt Betty was around ! Making 'friends' wherever you went with that magnetic personality. You were sassy outgoing & fun, most of all loving caring & selfless. You not only left an imprint on my heart but all those who had the priviledge/pleasure of crossing your path. You're going to be sorely missed !   S I P ❤

Ma, I can’t believe that you’re gone but I’m so grateful that I experienced your soul while you were here. You always treated me as one of your own! My fondest memories were going to your house with Lae and Jailon after summer camp. I can only imagine how loud and obnoxious we were playing in the front yard and running around the house back then but you never complained (for too long at least) ! I’ll miss coming to visit you at Pearls; your wittiness, humour and love will never be forgotten. Rest peacefully <3.

Vivian shared some fond memories that she had with Betty before she became Ma. Ma started to take care of Viv when she was a baby and Betty was a teenager, consequently they grew up together and had many fun adventures. Vivian reminisced about the many long walks they shared, and how they would go for early morning swims and go out for fish sandwiches. As they got older, Ma loved going for drives, taking in the beautiful sights of Bermuda. They used to love going on the free senior boat cruises to enjoy the cakes, sandwiches and good company, brown paper bag in tow. She will always be my Aunt Betty, we were good friends. I could always call her for whatever reason or for no reason at all. I Love You and Miss you Ma.

My dear Aunt Betty would always express how she loved me. When I felt alone, she made me inclusive. We shared good times and lots of laughter. We even cried together a time or two on the transition of our loved ones. Our recent times together was only difficult in that I couldn’t keep sufficient cold ones on hand for her. Happy for you now, on your Spiritual journey. Love Always,
Dinny

These two stories stand out about Aunt Betty: one that she was a strong woman who never bit her tongue, and two, boy oh boy was she a looker!

Both photographs tell these stories and both were told to me many times over by jose and marilyn.

The august 1966 photo was taken when my mom took my dad to bermuda the first time to meet the family before they got married. They stayed with aunt betty and uncle shirley and in true bermudian spirit took jose out one evening for some dark and stormies, my dad got so drunk he ended uup vomitting all over aunt betty’s lawn and slept outside. He got a severe telling off from aunt betty and needless to say he behaved himself for the rest of the trip!

The second photo was taken at the famous Spanish restaurant in Nyc called Casa Espana. Apparently everytime Aunt Betty went there, the Spanish waiters would hover around her, so taken were they with her beauty! They even made her get up to sing on one occasion. You rock Aunt Betty.

Oh yeah, she also made a mean ginger bread! I’m sure if my brother Guy were alive, he would agree.

My precious Aunt Betty, you will be forever missed. Your joyful spirit will always have a special place in my heart.
When we meet again, I will make you the special egg sandwiches I made you when I was in highschool. Rest in eternal peace!

Most of my memories of Ma were when she would spend part of the school year in new jersey with us. She would help my mom take care of me when she had to travel for work.

Ma would walk me to school daily and on the way home we would stop in the mall to get Mc Donald’s apple pie and ice cream.
Kohls was one of her favorite shops, she would stay in there for hours  and  she would always return with “another”  stripped shirt. lol

One time during the fall I was about 9, I had gone apple picking and came home and she had locked herself out of the apartment. She had run out to meet me at the elevator and the door closed behind her. We ended up  walking to the a hotel and checking in, apple basket in hand. For some odd reason she had her credit card and the house phone in your robe pocket. Always prepared.

Another really good one was when she decided to go on a walk alone to Target, it was a really really windy day. She was taking extra long so we got in the car to look for her. She was hanging onto a tree so the wind wouldn’t blow her over. She complained about loosing her favorite red $5.00 scarf the whole drive home.

Another memory was when they would take me out of school early on a Friday and we would go Atlantic City for the weekend. She would take me to Atlantic City bar and grill and she would get clam chowder and make me get my own cause she didn’t want my “liver lips” on your cup.

Your really going to me missed Smetty. So glad  you left us with so many Amazing memory’s

Love you “Ma” until we meet again. xoxox
