These two stories stand out about Aunt Betty: one that she was a strong woman who never bit her tongue, and two, boy oh boy was she a looker!

Both photographs tell these stories and both were told to me many times over by jose and marilyn.

The august 1966 photo was taken when my mom took my dad to bermuda the first time to meet the family before they got married. They stayed with aunt betty and uncle shirley and in true bermudian spirit took jose out one evening for some dark and stormies, my dad got so drunk he ended uup vomitting all over aunt betty’s lawn and slept outside. He got a severe telling off from aunt betty and needless to say he behaved himself for the rest of the trip!

The second photo was taken at the famous Spanish restaurant in Nyc called Casa Espana. Apparently everytime Aunt Betty went there, the Spanish waiters would hover around her, so taken were they with her beauty! They even made her get up to sing on one occasion. You rock Aunt Betty.

Oh yeah, she also made a mean ginger bread! I’m sure if my brother Guy were alive, he would agree.

My precious Aunt Betty, you will be forever missed. Your joyful spirit will always have a special place in my heart.
When we meet again, I will make you the special egg sandwiches I made you when I was in highschool. Rest in eternal peace!

Most of my memories of Ma were when she would spend part of the school year in new jersey with us. She would help my mom take care of me when she had to travel for work.

Ma would walk me to school daily and on the way home we would stop in the mall to get Mc Donald’s apple pie and ice cream.
Kohls was one of her favorite shops, she would stay in there for hours  and  she would always return with “another”  stripped shirt. lol

One time during the fall I was about 9, I had gone apple picking and came home and she had locked herself out of the apartment. She had run out to meet me at the elevator and the door closed behind her. We ended up  walking to the a hotel and checking in, apple basket in hand. For some odd reason she had her credit card and the house phone in your robe pocket. Always prepared.

Another really good one was when she decided to go on a walk alone to Target, it was a really really windy day. She was taking extra long so we got in the car to look for her. She was hanging onto a tree so the wind wouldn’t blow her over. She complained about loosing her favorite red $5.00 scarf the whole drive home.

Another memory was when they would take me out of school early on a Friday and we would go Atlantic City for the weekend. She would take me to Atlantic City bar and grill and she would get clam chowder and make me get my own cause she didn’t want my “liver lips” on your cup.

Your really going to me missed Smetty. So glad  you left us with so many Amazing memory’s

Love you “Ma” until we meet again. xoxox
