Sixty-three years ago today
Sgt. Ghost Pepper was there to say
That this boy was going to have a style
That would make everybody want to smile
So the world then introduced to you
The one and only Doug-Roy here
And washed that ghost pepper down with one more beer!

It was wonderful to be with you
And certainly a thrill
You were such a loving human being
We wish you could stay here with us
We wish you could stay here

I don't really want the tears to flow
But our memories of you still grow
And when the singer starts to sing his song
We're going to all sing along
So let's all drink a toast to you
And silently pray hand in hand
To Uncle Doug-Roy's life upon this land

I
Hello my son, wonder sometimes if you look down unto us.
You can be very proud of Geri & I think she made a good life for herself.
Your Brother Ron is looking out & helping Mutti. He also is a wonderful Husband to Diann & father to his 3 girls. Sierra, Savannah & Summer are doing well. You would be proud of them.
So Roy Boy like Oma called you rest in peace.
Will always love you. Mutti

Beautiful Dreamer

Beautiful dreamer, wake unto me.
Starlight and dewdrops are waiting for thee;
Sounds of the rude world heard in the day,
Lull’d by the moonlight have all pass’d away!

Beautiful dreamer, queen of my song,
List while I woo thee with soft melody;
Gone are the cares of life’s busy throng,
Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me!

Beautiful dreamer, out on the sea,
Mermaids are chanting the wild lorelie;
Over the streamlet vapors are borne,
Waiting to fade at the bright coming morn.

Beautiful dreamer, beam on my heart,
E’en as the morn on the steamlet and sea;
Then will all clouds of sorrow depart,
Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me!

Well, another year has come and gone
And we're still here to carry on
With every birthday, Christmas, solstice and equinox
Your ashes still are swirling around at the Ponce Inlet docks

We've grieved and missed you and sometimes cried
But we laugh and celebrate when memories collide
And though we can not be together anymore
Your spirit lives on in us for now and ever more

The years that have passed as of today, they total nine
And the bells in the tower of your church again will chime
So now alas in reverence, we raise a glass of wine
To live up to our credo, have a good time, all the time

Happy birthday, happy birthday
Dear friend, we sing to you
Happy birthday, happy birthday
Happy birthday to you

We thought we'd try to tell you how we love you on your birthday
We thought we'd try to sing and dance and play, today
We wanted to surprise you on your birthday and say
We love you every day, not just today

Happy birthday, happy birthday
Dear friend, we sing to you
Happy birthday, happy birthday
Happy birthday to you

On this 8th anniversary, there's little to say,
Except that I continue to miss you everyday.
Love always!

It was the 21st of May
Eight years ago to the day
A spirit left our space
Heading to another place
But the memory of his loving soul
Does not diminish as the years come and go
We only miss you more each day
In everything we do and all we say
Just wish you could be around for a while
To bring us more fun and share a smile
But we will raise a glass of beer or wine
And vow to have a good time, all the time
Love you brother!

Still think about you everyday and will always miss you! Found an acoustic video version of one of our favorites and it reminded me of the concert we attended. Hope you enjoy it. Wish we were together to celebrate your birthday and hope you're dancing the day away. Even though we're apart, you'll always remain in my heart. Love you forever, Mr. Douglas.

(Sing this poem to the tune of Sgt. Pepper)
It was 61 years ago
That Roy Douglas Bradley joined the show
He lived his life to the brim
And everyone he touched was better off for him
So may I say again to you
We miss you more and more each year
Happy birthday, wishing you were here

Hi, another year has past & I cant & will not forget you. You will always be my son , even so you are not here on earth any more.
Happy Birthday, Love you Mom.

Seven years have come and gone
And every year we carry on
But it seems no matter what we do
There's something missing, without you

So, mom and I went down to Ponce Inlet for the 6th year since we originally threw your ashes into the river.  This year it was raining, just like the day we released the ashes. Seemed somehow appropriate.  I'll post the pictures and video for all our friends and family.

Love you and miss you more than ever, brother!

Missing you so much today, Mr. Douglas, on your 60th birthday, which has now been officially decreed as a new and solemn supreme holy day of the COD. I shall commemorate the occasion with a glass of wine and drink to your memory and the legacy you retain through all of the lives you touched and love you shared with us all. Your birthday brings us joy through our sadness. Raise a toast from beyond with me to the unbreakable bond of eternal brotherhood! I love you :>)

Roy Douglas, on this day, as on every day, you are sorely missed. Diann and I are in Seattle visiting your God-daughter, Sierra and wish we could be enjoying time together with you like the old days. We will be thinking of you in everything we do and we will share a moment of silent reverence in your honor as we go down to Fremont on Lake Washington today and drop some flowers in the lake this evening at Sierra's house. Tuesday we will bellow a call across the wilderness for you, when we are at the top of Mt. Rainier. Our love for you burns as bright as the sun, forever.

Well, it took me 10 days to gather the various cell phone pictures, but now I have posted them. Diann and I went down to the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse with Mom on 21 May 2016, the 5th anniversary of my brother's passing. It is hard to believe it has been 5 years already and I still think of him every day. Hope you are having fun, Mr. Douglas ;>)

From Ellen Bradley:

If tears could build a stairway,
and memories a lane,
I would walk right up to heaven
and bring you back again.

No farewell words were spoken,
No time to say “Goodbye.”
You were gone before I knew it,
and only God knows why.

My heart still aches with sadness,
and secret tears still flow.
What it meant to love you –
No one can ever know.

But now I know you want me
To mourn for you no more;
To remember all the happy times
Life still has much in store.

Since you’ll never be forgotten,
I pledge to you today~
A hallowed place within my heart
Is where you’ll always stay.

58 years ago a baby boy was born. He lived life fully, acted honorably, thought and spoke wisely, joked and laughed heartily, and loved deeply and cherishingly. But most importantly, he was a great son, husband, brother, uncle and friend to all who ever met and knew him (and generally fun to be with).  He shall always be remembered fondly and his life celebrated as a positive force in the world. Rock On in the Great Beyond!

Happy birthday, Doug! We think of you often & miss you. I was looking at some old photos last week & it reminded me of the Easter weekends we would spend in Dallas. You were such a great godfather to Gina.

I cried when you passed away
I still cry today
Although I loved you dearly
I couldn't make you stay
A golden heart stopped beating
Hard working hands at rest
God broke my heart to prove to me
He only takes the best

Doug, I think of you every day. There is always something that happens or that I see or hear that reminds me of things you said, did or felt..............or makes me wonder what you would think, do or say if you were still here. I still celebrate your life and philosophies by living up to them, spreading them and expanding on them. My credo, "Have a good time, all the time," is hard to live up to. I hope you are still experiencing the sentiment of this credo, even from your latest vantage point, outside our Earthly realm.

Your loving brother,
Ephram Ronbert the Zimbalist Humperdinkel

Life takes some way to early. They always say the good die young and I know that was true of Doug. He went way to early for all of us. He had a truly good soul and a big heart.

Over the past four years, something occurs everyday that triggers fond memories of my best friend. It never would have occurred to him how much everyone would miss him. We often joked with each other that we wanted to pass on together because we both knew how much it would suck without the other. And it does, but his jovial outlook on life and the many memories we shared, brings lots of comfort. I can imagine him singing along.......and smile.

“When you’re chewing on life’s gristle,
Don’t grumble, give a whistle
And this will help things turn out for the best
And....always look on the bright side of life....
Always look on the bright side of life.”

We thought of you today
But that is nothing new
We thought about you yesterday
And days before that too

We think of you in silence
We often speak your name
All we have are memories
And a picture in a frame

Your memory's a keepsake
From which we'll never part
God has you in his arms.......
We have you in our hearts

Hi Doug,
Diann and I went out and celebrated for you on the evening of 21 May 2014. We had a great time and reminissed about all the great times we had together and all the fun things you were able to do in your life. Haven't been on my computer all week, so just now catching up on the posts. Hard to believe it's been three years and still miss you like it was yesterday. As a co-founding member of the Church of Doug and a long-standing Elderman, I have taken the liberty/authority to add two holidays to the 4 supreme holy days (the two equinoxes and the two solstices). The 5th Supreme Holy Day shall be celebrated as such on May 21 every year and the 6th Supreme Holy Day, shall be celebrated as much on 29 July (just picked those days at random :>)
See you someday on the other side. All my love, your little brother, Ephram Zymbalburt, Jr.

Great, great, great guy. As the song says, time may march on but the memories linger on. The pictures say it all. Doug lived life to the fullest, and all who knew him were touched by him.
Posted by Helen Nerviano on May 22, 2014
We miss Doug a lot also and can't believe three years have gone by. In spite of the lingering sadness, this site never fails to elicit a smile when I look at the photos. He left some great memories and certainly a big footprint on all our lives.
