My dearest Douglas James....I am in disbelief since reading about the horrible news.  I cannt believe you are gone from our lives.  Lisa is right...tell the people you love how you feel before it is too late.  You were taken from us way too quickly.  I only wish I would have tried harder to find you again.  The Cotter family is thinking of you and prays that your wife and children find peace and comfort during this very difficult time.  I never stopped and will forever love you with all my heart.  

I will miss your big laugh. When you would say to Romeo.." Do your thang Romeo" and just start cracking up laughing. I was with you thru some tough moments but one I will never forget and you said to me "Thankyou for being here with me" that memory popped up recently and it brought me to tears. Just remembering you in that moment. You were an amazing uncle to the kids and always played with them and talked to them. You showed an interest in their lives. That means so much to me. 
 I only wanted the best for you, I know you knew that!!!  You are loved by everyone and memories of you are engraved in all of our hearts. We will treasure them forever my friend.  

In life we take people for granted not thinking it could be the last time you could see someone. This happened with you Doug. You were here visiting Arizona one week than the next week you were gone. I thought I would see you again in 2 months.
I have known you my whole life. There have been some good times and bad times but through everything we always remained friends. We have kids together and I promise they will always be loved and taken care of. God always had a plan for you. I see that now when i look back at a lot of things from the last couple years. I see he brought you to him. He gave us time with you before you left. You will forever be in everyones hearts.❤
