God knows better than we do what is good to us. However there are moments we fail to understand his perfect will for our lives. Dr Carew was indeed a friend and little did we know the Lord would be calling him when we had a meeting at his home recently. Aiko and the family we are with you in prayer and we believe we will meet Dr Carew in Heaven when our time comes.

What can one say after the AEA meeting in Senegal! only Christ can tell.
To the Family: May Christ be your portion forever and ever. We may not understand it all but one day when we cross the other shore, we will love Christ more and more. RIP Dr. Carew God loved you most.

Daktari, you will truly be missed by many of us who passed through your hands while in NEGST now Africa International University. How to read a book by Mortimer J. Adler and Introduction to Biblical Interpretation by Klein, Blomberg and Hubbard will remain to be a lasting memory for me as they will always remind me of you. It was great working and serving with you. R.I.P Daktari.

You were a brave warrior, you fought the good fight and we can say confidently that you have won the race. It was great working and serving with you when I was the student representative. The news about your journey back to our maker was shocking and unbelievable to many of us, it was like a big joke. We will always love you Doc.

Mrs Aycu Carew and children,
We continue to pray for you and give thanks to God for the wonderful life of Douglas. We all expected him to serve for many more years, but God knows best.
Keep anchoring on the victory of Jesus over death.
God makes your lives still a blessing to others.

Uncle Dougie has been a great friend and mentor to me since our days together as staff of Scripture Union (Sierra Leone) where his special gift of rightly handling God's Word through Bible Expositions at SU Camps and Easter (Family) Retreats was discovered and greatly appreciated. May our God of comfort walk this journey with all of us. Romans 8:31 - 39.

Whether it was over a cup of tea or in his office or in the classroom Dr Carew lived a life of humility. His compassion for students and insight in leadership and great perseverance are qualities that each one of us must learn. His life was truly well lived.

Dr. Carew influenced my decision to join NEGST. His humility and readiness to share at that personal level cannot be compared-for a person holding the office that Carew held. I am greatly indebted to him. The theology, simplicity, power, and reflective preaching only but left me longing for more. My prayer to God is that God's grace be multiplied toward his family, and that AIU continues.

Where is Dr Carew?
This question bogs the mind of every new student at the AIU. Whenever you are at the chapel for fellowship , one wonders who and where is Dr Carew. Just like Christ in the midst of the disciples was not known, except  when He stands to deliver inspired revelation as the oracle of God.
Where is Dr Carew? This can become a research question in pastoral or anthropological

It was with great sadness that I heard my best friend/my brother call me from Kenya to tell me that he lost his father. After attending the funeral this past weekend and spending time with the family, it was was with great rejoicing that I was blessed in the hope everyone shared. We rejoiced that He was home. Home to be with our Lord. But, before going home he left a mighty mark on earth!

RIP My Beloved Brother and Mentor Dr. Carew. Sister Ayiku and children, Marble and I pray for you and hold your ministry esteem to us. Be comforted in Him, AMEN!

"It's not long ago when we had a re-union at the ICETE conference in Kenya. I can vividly recall you telling me, 'George, we need to talk..., how is Prisca?' We had such warm fellowship that the thought of you leaving this soon never crossed my mind. A good model of a humble, godly, servant-leader to me and Prisca; you will be greatly missed yet we hope to meet again in glory."

The news came as a shock, we are slowly learning to accept the reality. Dr Carew you touched everyone with your humility. I was able to learn from you that one can be selfless, humble and still rise to the top; it is a rare quality. You will forever be missed until we meet again.

Your departure to be with the Lord, came at a time when least expected. Like a soldier in the army of the Lord, you accepted His call willingly even in the middle of your dreams. Dr Carew, I learnt a lot from your servant leadership as a member of the students' executive committee and it is through those lessons that I am now proudly leading others as a servant leader in Malawi. RIP.

My brother, your departure was sudden, untimely, and without notice. How can you do this to us? This is certainly not good. However, as we lament, I can imagine you beholding the face of the Father smiling and saying, 'Father, they don't understand.' Yes, we don't understand but He does. This is our consolation. Brother, RIP. You will be forever remembered. From the Larbi's. GHANA.

My wife and I had been to six universities and tertiary insitutions before we came to NEGST. In each we saw the Vice-Chancellors ONLY at Matriculation and Graduation ceremonies. We got our paradigm shift on leadership humility when we met Dr. Carew-an unidentifiable V.C.among lowly students! REST ON TILL WE MEET IN THE NEW JERUSALEM CITY.

Dear Mrs. Carew and family, to me Dr. Carew was a faithful servant of God, diligent and passionate about raising leaders within and outside the church to be a blessing to Africa and beyond. I'll miss his love for worship thro' music, his readiness to encourage, his humility and his joyful spirit. We mourn because we love. Matthew 5:4.

With all sincerity, I and my orphaned sisters and brothers here in Bo City, Sierra Leone will ever miss you, Dr. Moses Douglas Carew - we used to call you "NGOR MO". You were a real father to us and took care of both our spiritual and physical needs during Scripture Union old days in the mid 80s. May God comfort & uphold Sis. Ayiku and children in Jesus' name. Rest in perfect peace.

We join with others to say thank You to God for your life. We didn't have the opportunity to meet with you in person but one day we shall meet you at the feet of Jesus. As a student at AIU, Dr. Carew was my live sermon on servant leadership. He changed my perspective on Christian leadership for ever. Daktari, though gone, your work remains. I take pride in being your disciple, in demonstrated servant leadership. You remain my true human example (and hero) in service to the body of Christ. RIP
To his family, may the God of all comfort tend you.

I don’t understand the loss of a life so loved and loved so much, received so much, gave so much, had so much to give still. But your works will live on through everyone you have touched. I know you are now sitting on a couch with Jesus, having the gentlest chat ever. Ps, while you walk about the streets of gold, say hello to my mom for whom you prayed with me earlier this year

Shocking news! Dr. Carew truly exemplified a passion for AIU as an institution, the students and the mission of God. He was an outstanding spokesman/diplomat for all the above. An exemplar of a determined, hardworking, focused steward capped as a humble missionary scholar with whom we were blessed to be under His ministry. Strength to the family...God knows it all

"Dr Carew, commonly called by my family as "uncle Dugie", the sudden news of your 'eternal home rest' seems to me like a dream but indeed a reality which is humanly difficult to comprehend. Your visionary and servant leadership coupled with your selfless devotion to the vision of AIU will ever remain as a 'memorial' in the minds of all and sundry".
