To the Patricia and the Powe Family,
I am at a loss for words. Two brothers, two gentle-men, gone together.

Although it’s difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, may looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow.

My beloved Grandfather Mr. Douglas Powe. For forty six years I had been blessed to call you granddad the finest example of a man that could ever be. You work tirelessly to provide for your family never complained just loved your family. I would ask granddad it's hard to take care of three kids how could you take care of nine? you would just smile and say I all ways wanted a lot of kids and knew if I had them I would work to take care of them. You left a big hole in my heart not to hear your voice I love you and truly honored to have had you in my life. Job well done! Mr.Douglas Powe

My Dear Uncle Douglas,

I will forever treasure in my heart the memories we shared. Like the times I stopped by and sat with you on your porch as I went on and on talking. You were quiet and soft-spoken and let your long-winded Niece do most of the talking. However, when you did have something to say, I was eager to hear. Thank you for the words of Wisdom! You were a Man of God and Family.

Losing both you and Uncle Julius marks the End of An Era as we knew it. Our Family is Forever Changed. You will be Truly Missed. Take Your Sweet Rest! We loved you dearly, still God loved you The Best!

My heart is broken right now as I am writing this through the tears. Although it is truly a blessing to have had you in my life all these years, I don't want to let you go! You were an awsome dad and the true epitome of a real MAN!!!! You cared and provided for a wife and nine children without skipping a beat and I often wondered how you did it.... you always exhibited strength so much so that I gave you the name "Papa Rock". You were my rock!! I love you and I miss you. Rest in Heaven.

Thanks Uncle for the many times that we set down and talked about fishing, hunting and you sharing with me about when you all were children. Those were events that made me laugh and that is how I shall remember you. You always had something interesting to talk about. I will miss you! Rest in Peace!

There are so many great memories of Uncle Douglas. He was kind, well spoken, stylish, and always considerate of others. He also had great genes because he never aged. I told him that all the time. My most fun childhood memory will always be seeing and talking to the parrot at the house. I never knew another family with a parrot (smiling).

Uncle Douglas, I am grateful to have been part of your life. God truly blessed our family when He made you. Continue your rest.

Love,
Shay

My Uncle Douglas was truly a Blessing to me. I will miss him so much. He loved God, his Family, his Pastor, Church Family and all whom he met. If he met a stranger, they were not a stranger for long because of his love for mankind.

Take your rest Uncle! Your journey down here is completed.
