Still Missing You

December 29, 2022
I miss you this year more than ever
I wished I could talk to you and listen to your advise
But each time I think deeply I know what you’d say
Thanks for the love you shared
Thanks for the examples you set
Thanks for the impact you made
Thanks for being the best father any man would have wished for growing up

  1. Happy posthumous birthday dearest dad....continue to rest in the bosom of our Lord Jesus till we meet again.
February 5, 2019
It was a hot Saturday afternoon, I was getting ready to step out with my sister, when we got a call from mummy, she sounded like she had just cried, but what she said afterwards hit me 'big daddy is dead'.The two sides of the phone went mute and since that moment till now, it's like a dream, an expensive joke, so unbelievable. I have known big daddy since I have known myself, not for once have I seen him as an uncle but like a father. Oh! so many things I would miss about him, walking into the house in Akiode and seeing you on that favorite chair of yours, me kneeling to greet you and you replying 'ah ah! ah ah! 'atopenjo' (Atopenjo, a name my granny called me because I'd dance to any beat as a little child). Since your demise, I have visited the house a couple of times, but you are not on your favorite seat, no one to call me 'atopenjo',like you did. All we have left are the beautiful nostalgic memories. My consolation is that you are in heaven looking down on us with your beaming smile. Adieu Big daddy. Temitope Oniwinde

Goodnight my Lover

January 27, 2019

I still find it difficult to believe that you are gone. I never knew that you would not live to see Year 2019.

On the day of your departure, during our morning devotion, we thanked the Lord for seeing us up to 29th December, 2018 and prayed that we would all scale through the remaining days in the Year 2018 without any loss to which you said, “Amen”. I never knew you would walk out of my life in the next six hours. You did not complain of any ailment and you confirmed about three hours to your demise. Your departure was so swift but who am I to question the One who gives and takes life – the Omnipotent.

Your exit has created a great vacuum in my life. You are my companion, a faithful friend, a trustworthy husband, a lover and a priest at home. You were never moved by any situation because you believed that the Alpha and Omega knows about it and is in perfect control. You lived a very peaceful, humble and contented life.

I thank the Almighty God for the 44 years, 5 months and 9 days we shared together.

To you my love, I say goodnight because I know you are not dead but sleeping peacefully in the bosom of the Almighty Father and on the resurrection morning, we will meet to part no more.

Now the laborers task is o’er

Now the battle day is past

Now upon the farther shore

Land the voyager at last

Father in thy gracious keeping

Leave we now thy servant sleeping

Goodnight … Goodnight … Goodnight

Daddy

January 25, 2019

You never understand fatherhood until you turn one

All fingers point at you after all said and done

I looked up to one man right from age zero

He knew all, did all and he was my hero

I grew as a teen needing my own identity

But he had my time and in so much quantity

We agreed on little but thru all the differences

We still could join hands to break the low fences

He ended up being my best and biggest fan

He had so much faith in who I’d become as a man

Even when I looked back and no one was there

I could turn beside me and see his nudging stare

Daddy,

My baby book shows the first word you heard me say was “daddy”.

Right there where you laid, the last word you heard me say was “daddy”.

You answered me the last time as I’m sure you did your first time.

And forever I will always remember the moments between both “daddies”

My biggest fan

My number one supporter

My father and my friend

Daddy, You were a father indeed, you were always protective of us, you taught and gave us the best of all gifts, which is the knowledge of the word of God. Your transition to Glory was so swift and shocking, but in all these I know that God understands. Continue to enjoy the presence of God, which you have always cherished. I love ànd miss you dad.

Tribute

Daddy, its still like a dream I wish I can wake up from, still remember asking you how you were that Saturday morning, when you were having your breakfast and you said you were fine, but just weak, it was just so unexpected, I thank God for your life, for the discipline and nurturing with the word of God, we would have devotion like we were having a church service, the only activity we did not do was collection of offering, back then we thought you were harsh and hard on us, but now we understand better, your actions back then has made us what we are today, it has set us on the right path, like you tell us "better put on your thinking cap", we thank God that cap is on and we are thinking straight and doing well, Daddy I love you so much and I miss you so much, goodnight Dr.Olawale .O.(senior) ,till we meet again at Jesus feet.
