University Of Cambridge -2006

February 28, 2015

Olumide, with this photograph, I remember fondly your usual caring manner, when you volunteered to drive all of us to University Of Cambridge in 2006 to settle Somi in, on his first day. You acted in loco parentis to all my children till your last days remembering also your taking Semilore, your God-daughter whom you fondly call 'Little Lady' back to School in November 2013.
Your loving good memories will be forever in our hearts. We all miss you.

Preparing for the Wedding

October 2, 2014

Prior to their wedding, Olu and Bola came to Canada to make some important purchases. David and Russ took Olu out to buy" the ring". Chris went with Bola to buy" the white dress". This was a time to get to know one another better and the beginning of a very long friendship.  We all had such a wonderful time. It was an honour to help them prepare for a wedding that led to a loving marriage and three wonderful children.

We first met

February 1974

September 27, 2014

In 1974 Olu joined me at my home in Greenfield Park Quebec to experience a fun day in the snow.  My cousins joined us and we had plenty of fun introducing Olu to a true Canadian winter.  It was fun to see his face when he saw the piles of snow at the end of our street and he was such a trooper climbing to the top with us to pose for pictures.  He had arrived from Nigeria via England with what he thought were "winter" clothes he purchased in England but he quickly had to purchase a warmer coat and winter boots.  He started his post secondary education at Bishop's University and I had started at CEGEP at Champlain College.  We were both so young at the time, bursting with hope, energy and possiblity.  Both of us married wonderful people, had three beautiful children (2 boys and 1 girl ) and remained friends although we lived oceans apart most of our lives.  Dear Olu, I will miss you and with great sadness say "Farewell until we meet again".
