This is a small chapter about our loving Dr. Ronald W.  Walters. He was a loving, gentle and kind person. Ronnie always had an ear to hear anything you wanted to talk about.  He was wise, full of knowledge and constantly strived to obtain more. He has been a role model for African Americans of all ages. Always challenging you to fulfill your dreams and aspired you to seek a college education.  
Ron was one of the historians in our family. He has traced our family roots and obtained significant documentation. Family has always played an important part for Ron and he has been there for our family. Ron tried to preserve our family traditions that were passed down by our forefathers. He was instrumental in the Civil Rights Movement in Wichita, KS and has been a political activist for years. 
He was a scholar and has made great contributions to history. Ronnie served 15 out 25 years as Chairman of the Political Science Department of Howard University, Washington, D.C.   He has accomplished a plethora of goals.  Ron holds a Doctoral Degree in International Relations along with so many other honors and degrees. He has been seen from time to time on CNN or other broadcasts giving his input on any given situation.   Ron has written several books and published papers which are part of the reading curriculum for many top universities, such as the University of Michigan, Wayne State University, and Ohio State University to name a few. He was one of the top sought after lecturers in the country.
“Ronnie," as he was affectionately called, is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 47 years, Patricia Turner Waltes; his brothers: Duane in Atlanta, GA; Terry and his wife, Sidney in Oklahoma City, OK; Kevin and his wife, Jeanette in Bowie, MD; his sisters: Marcia and her husband, Wesley in Austin, TX; and Sharon in Atlanta, GA;  a host nieces, nephews,other relatives, colleagues and friends in KS, CA, MI, CO, IL and the throughout the country and abroad.
