Dipson
It's been a while. We lost contact when you left Ife in the 90s. But I still remember your giant stature & gentle ways. And from what I read here, you remained the same kind & calm person till the end.
My condolences to the loved ones you left behind. Rest with the angels.

It is with a heavy and sorrowful heart that I pay my humblest tribute to life and to my dear friend and brother Dipson as he is fondly known among his friends.

It is in love that the greatest possibilities exist. The short and eventful life of Dipson has taught me much about love and devotion. He was quiet, unassuming, humble and devoted in all his duties.

Tears are not necessarily a bad thing, but this should not be because of difficulties or when our feelings have been hurt. One can be moved to cry when one is overwhelmed by an unexpected victory, beauty or anything which is noble and sublime or when a treasure, like Dipson, is snatched.

May the Almighty God grant Dipson eternal peace in the continuum and comfort all those are bereaved of his love and friendship.

Uncle Muyiwa Dipeolu.

Tribute to Dr Olufemi Dipeolu, aka Dipson or Danbu.

You departed so suddenly. No time to say goodbye. Brothers can't be parted; precious memories never die.

The fact that you're no longer here will always cause me pain, but you remain forever in my heart.

Our paths crossed when we gained admission to Comprehensive High School, Ayetoro, Ogun State, Nigeria in September 1973 and completed secondary education in June 1978 (that's how we got our set acronym: Compronians 738 set) and since then we had remained friends. We were both in Blue house and Science class from Form three to five.

Dipson was kind; a generous hand and an active mind. A loving brother and faithful friend. He was a highly disciplined and very upright individual. A hardworking, diligent, efficient and focused man.

We have lost a friend, brother and cherished classmate. Compronians 738 set have lost a Compro encyclopedia.

He will be sorely missed.

May the Lord grant Compronians 738 set and the family he left behind the grace and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
May his soul rest in perfect peace. Adieu!

Isaac Olaogun
Chairman, Compronians 738 Set.

Dr. 'Alfem' my name for him. It came from the Mozambican pronounciation of Olufemi. Indeed gone too soon. However , who am I to question our Sovereign God ? So in humble submission, I bow to the Lord's will.
A gentle giant of a man, Dr. Alfem was DEEP. A man of few words but sincere. He had a great sense of humour though seemingly taciturn. Hmmm.....Dr. Alfem, my brother-in-love, thank you for the high degree of Ph.D you conferred on me. I treasure it. I prayed many good things for you and my skoni for the future. Alas! God knows. I give God praise for his life and I believe he's back with the Lord. Rest in peace my beloved Dr. Alfem.

My dear Femi, ever gentle and calm. My last conversation with you by telephone was about your work and the raging pandemic in SA but I never thought it would be the last. You were on my mind few days before I got the shocking news of your passing. I told myself it had been some time and I needed to call you. I just said a prayer as I do for my loved ones and moved on. When Bro Wale called me in the early hours of Sunday 28th February, I thought that was unusual but nothing prepared me for the 'bad news' he said he had. How could I have ever thought it was news of your death? What can we say or do? I give God glory for your life. As I reflected on the years past I remembered all the nicknames Mumsy Dip called you when we were children and a smile crossed my lips. Rest in peace Dr. Olufemi Dipeolu. May God console your darling wife Nokwazi. May he give grace to Adewale, Adeyemi Omotayo and Olaperi to bear this painful loss. May he comfort your entire family, friends and loved ones. May your sudden passing constantly remind us all of the transience of life on this terrestrial plane and cause us to plan for eternity. Rest on beloved in the bosom of our Lord. Goodnight.

WE SHOULD NOT BELIEVE THAT THOSE WHO ARE GONE ARE BEREFT OF SUPPORT AND PROTECTION

My dear brother, what shall we then say to these things but to give glory to the one who gave us breathe.

Olufemi, I choose not to mourn but to celebrate you, your journey on earth and your final journey to the great beyond. Yes, you lived a good life, shorter than most, quietly enduring whatever lot was apportioned to you, you fought many battles, resisted many attacks and overcame many adversaries and you conquered.

You were very quiet and nurtured so much in the power of silence, you were deep, I knew you had a lot to say but rather than hurt or harm anyone, you kept them all deep within, with a quiet smile on your face, you were a man of great wisdom.

Femi, your daughters may be wailing and your sons shooting their guns, calling for a comeback of their father. No matter how intense our wail or far ranging our shots, Heaven's call is louder, you heard the trumpet, the call of the Great Messiah and you heeded the call. No call can be greater.

Dear brother , you have become our cloud of witness, beckoning to us to run a good race of faith, fight a good fight of faith and make a safe journey back home.
You were deep, very deep and above all simple and beautiful.

On earth your body will be laid to rest but not your soul, may your journey back to the garden of the blessed be filled with immeasurable grace. Amen.

And may the Lord keep safely all that you left behind. Amen

Good night my dear brother, as you wake up to a glorious morning.

MAY THE DAYS OF THE CLOSING OF OUR CYCLE
BE FILLED WITH IMMEASURABLE GRACE

Sun re o, my dear brother, omo Dipeolu oke ijehun. Otun di oju ala, odi ojo ajinde.

Met Dipson at OAU Ife, he was my senior at med school, we also shared a few common friends. After graduating, we were both residents at OAUTHC and also both went to Medical University of Southern Africa for Postgraduate specialization. Dipson likes pleasant suprises, I remeber the day he came to visit me at MEDUNSA, at that time I did not know he was also in MEDUNSA, he starts every encounter with his characteristic smile... May the Lord Bless your soul.

It was a shared 3 years in Unife.
But I could write a book on Femi.
He seemed bulletproof.
Endured health challenges.
He was resolute.
Firm but fair.
Frank but loyal
Private but adventurous
Liberal yet a man of faith

May His Soul Rest in Peace.
