71. Dupe Olayinka Amosun: ‘YEMSOSO!!!’ as you were usually called by my mother. Your usual response was ‘Abolanjeee!!!’ News of your transition really touched my bones o! I have known you all my life as a hard-working Mum who wants the very best. I remember those days when Abolanjee would take us in a Peugeot 504 car to your place at the Old Ife Road to play. We were always happy to go to your house because we were sure that you would give us as much LOLLYPOP as we would love to consume in your house and more than enough to take as take-away gifts. You were always there for us. When we were having hard times with our studies, you encouraged, scolded, and showered love on us. You would always correct and guide us in a funny way that would eventually have life-long effects on our desire to learn and excel. I remember a time when you wanted to correct Seyi about the body cream he was using that was making his skin lighter. You drew my mother’s attention to Seyi’s unusual lighter skin by saying “Abolanje, o o so fun mi wipe o ti ni molato ni’le”, and you told Seyi to stop using the cream since the cream can cause skin cancer if he did not discontinue its use. Your boldness and frank nature in providing your advice really shocked me because you boldly bared your mind on possible health challenges that might be the aftermath of his using the body cream. “SUN UN RE, OMO ALETAN, IYA SANNI, till we meet to part no more”.
