Dude's Strength and Will

October 16, 2022
(This was after Dude had gotten real sick and lost a lot of his physical strength. Dude definitely had not lost his mental strength or will to keep going.) One weekend Dude and Johnny  were staying with Joey and me. Dude started telling me that he wanted to start eating healthier. He told me he wanted to start eating a lot more fruits and vegetables. So, the next day I asked the boys if they or one of them wanted to go shopping with me. I didn't drive, we had to take the train and a cart at the time. Neither one of the boys wanted to go. Dude chimes in and says I'll go. Dude could barely get around in the house,  so I gave him a walker I had at the house. He took to it like he had always used it. He just wasn't gonna let life's setbacks slow him down. Anyway we get on the train went to Safeway. We loaded up a cart at Safeway, next went to a produce store across the street. We  got a lot more fruits and veggies there. The only money I had at the time was rent money. But I happily paid for the groceries my little brother picked out. He thought they would help him feel better. On our way home we were on the train, I was telling Dude that we would need to get off the train the stop before our house. He said ok. The train driver was always really nice to me anyway, but that day I was so thankful for him to be our driver. He said he would take us to our usual stop and he would help my little brother Dude off the train and help me get off the train with all of the groceries in the cart. And there were a lot! He was SUPER nice and I am very grateful to him. Dude and I laughed, talked and cracked up the whole time we were out. I love and missed him so much. ❤❤❤❤
