Obituary

July 25, 2020
Dustin Jerrell Martin, age 34, of Columbia, TN went the way of all flesh on Wednesday July 22, 2020 at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 27 at 6pm at Highland Park Baptist Church, with Jean Harlan officiating. Burial will be Tuesday, July 28 at 10am in Rosemount Cemetary. Baxter Brothers Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Dustin was born in Cleveland, OH on June 2, 1986 to the late Carol Martin. He graduated from Columbia Central High School in 2004. Dustin dedicated his adult life to working in the medical field. He began at Core Physicians 16 years ago before joining the staff at Right Care Primary Clinic. He was the first face people would see when they walked in, and he always offered a smile and a kind word. He never met a stranger. The fact that he was 6'9 caused many people to approach him while in public to aquire about his height. He would always say, "I'm 6'9 and no I don't play basketball", as he knew that would be the next question.
Even though he was born with a genetic disorder called Marfan Syndrome he never let that stop him from living his life to the fullest, which included many mosh pits in his younger years. He loved music, especially metal, and professional wrestling. His love of both were instilled in him by his grandfather. The proudest moment of his life was the day his daughter was born, and he hasn't stopped beaming with joy about his "lil' peanut" since. His love, loyalty, and dedication to his family and friends has never waivered.
He is survived by his wife: Jessica Morris of Columbia; daughter: Dahlia Harmony Martin; sister: Amber Martin of La Vergne; nephew: Wesley Marquez Clark; and a host of cousins and close friends.
Dustin was preceded in death by his mother: Carol Melinda Martin; grandfather: Edgar Wesley Martin Jr; his grandmothers: Sarah Virginia Martin (maiden name McCandless) and Connie Russell Martin.
His friends who were once strangers but forever brothers will be acting as pallbearers.
Anyone who knew him would agree with his favorite wrestler, Bret "Hitman" Hart, that he was "the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be".
