Our Sincere Gratitude!

The family of Dwayne Butler would like to express their deep appreciation for all the support and love shown during this time.  The prayers, words of comfort, and so much more, strengthened and encouraged us.  Jehovah, the God of all real comfort, teaches us to be concern, to "speak consolingly to those who are depressed," and "to comfort all who mourn,"  (1Thessalonians 5:14; Isaiah 61:1,2)  Thank you for imitating him.

Just a brief note to let you know that my mother and I are keeping you in our prayers. Having lost a child of my own (Kelly) I know the emptiness and sorrow you are experiencing. May Jehovah the God of Comfort be with you now and in those coming quiet nights when memories of Dwayne's smile, his touch, his soft spoken words leave you with traces of bittersweet tears. Our almighty God Jehovah will conceal you beneath his wing and it's in that shadow where you will find an easing of grief. With Much Love and Fond Memories of Dwayne.

Dear Butler Family, I was so sorry to hear about the loss of Dwayne. There are so many fond memories that I have of the times that Dwayne would visit us in NJ and we would travel to MD. I last had the opportunity to see Dwayne in 2015, when Tippy and I visited MD. Even though so many years had gone by, it was as if time stood still.  We reminisced, laughed and talked about our good times. We also talked about how happy we were to be in Jehovah's organization and what a loving, caring and patient God we serve.  I know how difficult this time is for you, but Jehovah has given us three (3) gifts to help us endure -- our relationship with Him, our dear Christian family, and our wonderful hope for the future. Jehovah promises us at Isaiah 65:17 that in His righteous new world, we will no longer have to deal with the loss of our loved ones nor the pain we now feel; these former things will no longer be called to mind. What a time to look forward to -- welcoming Dwayne back in the resurrection.  Until then, rely on Jehovah, your Christian brotherhood as well as our promised hope of the resurrection and life everlasting!

Aunt Margaret and Uncle Junie, I imagine your heart is heavy right now and without saying a word Jehovah knows, and will hold you close during this very sad time. What years of great memories you have to help you at this time. Dwayne would always make me laugh and that is one thing I am looking forward to in Paradise. The other, is to see your faces when he comes around the corner. That will be a priceless moment. I love you dearly. To my cousins, please accept this virtual hug since it cannot be in person, Love you all

Aunty and Uncle this leaves me with a heavy heart I recall all of our childhood memories, the Friday nights at grandmas and granddaddy’s the food the laughter we all had together. Sitting around just being with family. Man did we have some fun I will carry those times for a lifetime. So I was like what do I write and express m my feelings so I'm just going with the flow...
WE can shed tears that Dwayne is gone or WE can smile because he has lived, WE can close our eyes and pray that he will come back or WE can open our eyes and see all that he has left Our heart can be empty because WE can’t see him or WE can be full of the love that he shared WE can turn our back on tomorrow and live yesterday or WE can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday WE can remember Dwayne and only that he is gone or WE can cherish his memory and let it live on WE can cry and close our mind, be empty and turn your back or WE can do what Dwayne would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on. He lives on in our hearts and minds as in my heart and mind. Dwayne knows that the day will come when you’ll meet again on paradise distant shore, and we all will walk hand in hand Together forever more. Love you cousin, the words cannot express they true feelings that befalls me. Viviras para siempre en mi Corazon (You will live forever in my heart)

To aunt Margaret, uncle Junie, and to my cousins and his son. There are truly "no" words to express the sadness and hurt that was felt when the news was received. The very first thought for me, was, reminiscing when I last saw him at my moms and how we laughed about the good ole days. One being when he had the green Capri and he let me shift the gears.. That was the "best" day ever that I remember as a youngster with him. I certainly will miss his presence and laugher of course. But, above all else, I know that the strength of Jehovah will lead you and the family to a place of comfort with the thought of seeing Dwayne again.

Much Love to my family!

His Life
April 10, 2021
Dwayne Jerome Butler, was born April 15,1955, in Washington DC.  He was the first of 4 children born to James and Margaret Butler.  In his youth he enjoyed watching and playing baseball.  He played with the neighborhood team in Dorsey, Maryland and loved getting suited up for his favorite position, that of shortstop.

He graduated from Arundel Senior High School in 1973.  One of his first jobs after graduation was in cleaning at Hot Shoppe, a catering service to the airlines for one week (couldn’t stand the garbage).  He worked for Liskey Aluminum in Linthicum and eventually worked in landscaping in Columbia Maryland as well as in home improvement building decks.  He serviced medical equipment with Medical Imaging and was last employed at United Medical until 2013 when he suffered his first stroke.

Baptized 1971 as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses at the Crownsville Assembly Hall Dwayne and at one time served as a ministerial servant in the Ellicott City, Md  congregation.

Dwayne married Pearl in 1984 and in 1985 this union brought about their precious son, Maroni whom they love dearly.

They had many fond memories of their times together, during their Skyline Drive and Cunningham Falls adventures.

Many will remember Dwayne’s kindness, sense of humor, love of playing practical jokes with others and his ability to laugh, even at himself.  If you needed help he was there, even at the last minute, for he would readily help whoever ask.

He had a green thumb as shown by the ‘jungle’ he had surrounding him, loved photography, football, basketball, baseball and fried potatoes!

After battling many complications with his health Dwayne passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2021.
He is survived by his wife, Pearl, their son Maroni; his parents, James and Margaret Butler; his brothers Michael (Phyllis) and Randy; his sister Renee (Michael); his mother in law Silvia Thomas, his sisters in law Alicia Thomas, Keisha Mohammed, his brothers in law Miguel and Nigel Thomas; his aunts Eleanor Hightower-Smith and Shirley Galloway; his uncles Carlton (Barbara) Butler and Leon Galloway as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many spiritual family and friends.
