His Life
April 10, 2021
Dwayne Jerome Butler, was born April 15,1955, in Washington DC.  He was the first of 4 children born to James and Margaret Butler.  In his youth he enjoyed watching and playing baseball.  He played with the neighborhood team in Dorsey, Maryland and loved getting suited up for his favorite position, that of shortstop.

He graduated from Arundel Senior High School in 1973.  One of his first jobs after graduation was in cleaning at Hot Shoppe, a catering service to the airlines for one week (couldn’t stand the garbage).  He worked for Liskey Aluminum in Linthicum and eventually worked in landscaping in Columbia Maryland as well as in home improvement building decks.  He serviced medical equipment with Medical Imaging and was last employed at United Medical until 2013 when he suffered his first stroke.

Baptized 1971 as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses at the Crownsville Assembly Hall Dwayne and at one time served as a ministerial servant in the Ellicott City, Md  congregation.

Dwayne married Pearl in 1984 and in 1985 this union brought about their precious son, Maroni whom they love dearly.

They had many fond memories of their times together, during their Skyline Drive and Cunningham Falls adventures.

Many will remember Dwayne’s kindness, sense of humor, love of playing practical jokes with others and his ability to laugh, even at himself.  If you needed help he was there, even at the last minute, for he would readily help whoever ask.

He had a green thumb as shown by the ‘jungle’ he had surrounding him, loved photography, football, basketball, baseball and fried potatoes!

After battling many complications with his health Dwayne passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2021.
He is survived by his wife, Pearl, their son Maroni; his parents, James and Margaret Butler; his brothers Michael (Phyllis) and Randy; his sister Renee (Michael); his mother in law Silvia Thomas, his sisters in law Alicia Thomas, Keisha Mohammed, his brothers in law Miguel and Nigel Thomas; his aunts Eleanor Hightower-Smith and Shirley Galloway; his uncles Carlton (Barbara) Butler and Leon Galloway as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many spiritual family and friends.
