Earl L. Chavis, 86, a longtime resident of Mebane passed away, Friday December, 21, 2018 at Duke Medical Center.
He was born September 11, 1932 in Robeson County to the late Willis Chavis and Alice Locklear Chavis.  Earl was of the Baptist Faith and worked as a Brickmason.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor by Rev. Greg Allison. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Durham.  Visitation will be held from 11:00 – 12:45 prior to the Funeral Service at the Funeral Home.
Surviving are his son, Richard Wayne Chavis, Sr. and wife Suk of Fayetteville; a brother, John F. Chavis of Arab, Alabama; a grandson, Richard Wayne Chavis, Jr. and wife Ashley of Charlotte; two great-grandsons, Ethan L. Chavis and Felix M. Chavis.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Bracey Chavis and sisters, Iona Seagraves, Eula Mae Inman and Annie Mae Herman.

Truly will be missed from our family. Uncle Earl was the best. Had a very dry sense of humor; if you didn't listen well, you could miss it. So sorry for all of our family. Uncle John, you will have to have extra long arms for us.
