What a life of 98 years! Deaconess Grogan is considered the poet laureate of Shiloh. She often recited poetic pieces from her own written collection as well as from other authors and writers for church programs and services. Her poetry also was featured in a line of greeting cards she created. For several years, Mrs. Grogan presented adaptations of religious hymns and songs that were the musical themes for many Shiloh church anniversaries.  The book of Proverbs asks, Who can find a virtuous woman? Well, we found her at Shiloh in the name of Earlean Stanley Grogan!

Dear Mom.... I miss you so much. I rode by the house today because I'm so used to bringing birthday presents and watching the joy in your face from all the attention. There were many posts on Social Media and I continue to have speaking engagements where I can bring your Poetry to Life. You'd be so proud of all the members of our family!

On this posthumous occasion of your 102nd birthday, I remember your poem that reminds us that we have not one birthday, but two: our first birth from the womb and our 2nd birth when we are born-again by the Spirit. It is this 2nd birth that I celebrate with you, as you have inherited that eternal life which comes with being born-again~!!! Rest in peace and rise in glory, my beloved Mother~!!!

Your Daughter,
Rev. Desiré

On this 3rd anniversary of your transition into the Presence of our Lord and Savior JESUS CHRIST, I remain humbled by your absence but grateful for your legacy of faith and strength~! I continue to praise God for His Divine choice of gifting me with you as my Mother~! So much more of your legacy is continuing to bear fruit as I continue down this road of life. One of those fruit is the grace to endure loss. Your first-born son, William Joseph Grogan, Jr., transitioned into the Presence of the Lord on July 20, 2023, one week before his 80th birthday. Amyvonne and I, your daughters, are the only two living members of our nuclear family at this time. We have the peace and joy of JESUS knowing that you, Dad, Brad, and Bill, Jr. are together, at rest, at peace, and richly blessed in the Presence of the Lord~! We will join you one day~!!! Love Forever, Your Daughter, Rev. Desiré

On this posthumous occasion of your 101st birthday, Mom, I am continuing to praise God for gifting me with you as my Mother~! So much of your legacy as a Christian woman who did not wane in your faith or fervor for the Lord, even to your final hours, is a constant reminder to me to stay strong in the faith, no matter what, come what may~!!! You always counseled me that the only approval I need is God’s approval and I am so grateful for this rock of truth that keeps me free to be who God has called me to be~!!! Love always and forever, Your Daughter, Rev. Desiré

Mom, so many victories and successes have occurred since your transition into the Lord’s Presence on August 14, 2020~! Though you were not on this side of heaven to participate in them, I am fully persuaded, by the Word of God, that you had a virtual front-row seat among the mighty cloud of witnesses and rejoiced~!!! I am more grateful than ever to the Lord for gifting me with you as my Mother~!!! Happy 2nd Anniversary of your well-deserved peace and rest in the Presence of the Lord~!!!

This is your last child, Amyvonne.We have journeyed through so much together and I can't tell how much I'm becoming more like you everyday! It's amazing and it' s scripture. You'd be surprised at how many poems from your book "My Poetic Journey" ,I have memorized and I walk reciting them all along the track. I know that you are with God....and that you are happier and finally able to get blessed rest. The three if us that are left have become so immensely close....you would be proud of all that you put into our upbringing and .... we thank you.. we love you much , and we miss you but I know we will see you again. When we all... get to heaven...WHAT A DAY...OF REJOICING THAT WILL BE

She would have been 100 years young today on this side of heaven, but praise God she has been eternally young in the Presence of the Lord for the past two years~!!! We are keeping her story alive with the continual purchase of her book, My Poetic Journey: A Memoir, which she published at the age of 92, so that it stays available for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and for the many who have yet to be born to celebrate this great woman of faith, strength, and love~!!! HAPPY 100TH BIRTHDAY, MOM (posthumously)~!!!

Your first born. You gave me life; you raised me to be the man that I am today. Your consul to me is everlasting. Thank you, and Dad, for giving me the book on how to live: The Bible; and, the tools to earn a living.

Love you much

On this one year anniversary of your transition into the Presence of our Lord and Savior JESUS CHRIST, I count it all joy to have been gifted by God with you as my Mother~!!! I have rejoiced in the faith and strength you poured into me during my life, both of which have been well-springs during this past year of adjusting to not hearing your voice or seeing your face~! However, the fact that you are present with the Lord means you are still alive, at rest, and at peace in His Loving Arms~!!! I miss you, Mom, but I rejoice that you are in the best place - with JESUS~!!!

                 Proverbs 31:25-31 (Personalized Paraphrase)

25 [Mom] You were clothed with strength and dignity;
  you laughed at the days to come.

26 You spoke with wisdom,
  and faithful instruction was on your tongue.

27 You watched over the affairs of your household
  and did not eat the bread of idleness.

28 Your children now arise and call you blessed;
  your husband did also while he lived, and he praised you:

29 “Many women do noble things,
  but you, [Mom], surpass them all.”

30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
  but you, [Mom], a woman who feared the LORD, are to be praised.

31 We honor you for all that your hands have done,
  and we will let your works - bring you praise - at the city gate.
