Edgar “Luke” Roland Lea, 85, a lifelong resident of Granville County passed away Tuesday, December 13th at Brantwood Rehabilitation Center in Oxford.   

A native of Granville County, the son of the late Lewis Daniel and Margaret Potts Lea. In his youth he was an outstanding basketball and baseball player and remained an avid sportsman throughout his life. He was an army veteran of the Korean War and a purple heart recipient. He was a member of Community United Methodist Church in Butner and a retired tobacco auctioneer.     

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, December 17th 2011 at 2:00 PM at Community United Methodist Church in Butner by Rev. Dwayne Alston. Burial will be in Creedmoor Cemetery.    

Surviving are three sister in-laws, Ann Lea and Kathleen Lea, both of Creedmoor, Ann Lea of Atlanta, GA, four nephews, Scott Lea of Florida, Patrick Robertson and Danny Lea, both of Creedmoor, Lewis Lea of Atlanta and two nieces, Gail McKoy of Chesapeake, VA and Martha Lea of Atlanta, GA. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Henry, Clyde and Jessie Lea.   In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Community United Methodist Church, 507 West E Street, Butner, NC 27509.  

Visitation 1:00- 2:00 PM Saturday, December 17, 2011 prior to the service in the sanctuary of Community United Methodist Church.
